I get so many damn telephone solicitors at work.

"This is Aniki, how can I help you?"
"May I speak with person in charge of blah blah?"
"What can I do for you?"
"We are a blah blah, have compatible price blah blah..."
"No thank you, I am not interested in."
YOU $#%@#######$%%"

and the solicitor hangs up.

I tried to be very polite to these solicitors. They are human, they do that for living, and I can only imagine how miserable the job would be.

After this call, I just changed my mind that I should not be polite to them anymore??

Does any of you be nice to telephone solicitors at all? Or are you plain straight foward, and tell them to F off? cool.gif

Add my numbers to the National Do Not Call List every year and have never had any problems. I got a few calls from my car company or bank but when you sign with them you give them permission to contact you on certain things.

Once I say I'm not interested in whatever they're selling, that should be it. Anymore pushing on their part and they get cut off immediately.

I telemarketed for 6 mos. It was hell. Worst phone job I ever had. I've had 2. wink.gif

I'm nice to them. In fact, I try to sell them things... like stress, dirty laundry, my bf's cigarette butts, chores around the house, and happiness. They usually hang up before I do.

I'll be quick to say that I am busy now or I am going out now and then hang up quickly, before they have a chance to speak further. ph34r.gif

I just set the phone receiver next to the speakers of my boombox and play a cassette tape of audio from a porn movie, which I have ready for just these special occassions.

RFLMAO! omg i've got to try that one day!!

i always mess with their heads...i'll say joe's pool room...and when they ask to speak to someone, i'll say hold on..then come back on the line in a different voice...saying it's ''Laquita's Chicken Shack'' or some random place..haha they're always so confused...they normally end up saying ''is this 718-123-4567?' and i'll be like yeah, you've reached the law offices of Robert M. Beezley and they just are like blink.gif and apologize for the wrong number..then hang up lmao it's really funny when you get the persistent ones who don't get that they're getting played haha

Yup. Register at the NatL Do Not Call Registry. Saves you your bloodpressure. It's free and it works.
Why am I up this early?

^ OK I registered.

I usually don't pick up the phone if I don't recognize the phone number. I just let the voice mail answers it.

I screen my calls before I pick up. But I also registered both my landline and cell on the Do Not Call list so I don't really receive a lot of calls from telemarketers. Yes, I registered my cell because I've received a lot of telemarketing calls on my cell as well. Plus, better to be safe and less annoyed.

Ughh.. hate hate hate... whenever they call I just go "hello? hello? hello?? I can't hear you..too much static." and I hang up.. if they call again I just turn off the volume -___-;; Other days when I'm feeling nasty I just hang up on them : Usually they ask for my parents.. so I pretend to be them to save the "hassle" of the telemarketers calling again.... rolleyes.gif

You can always request that the telemarketers delist you (take you off their calling list so they never call again). It's illegal for them to refuse and for them to call back once you've requested it.

All I do when a telemarketer calls my house is not pick up the phone. I have call display, so I can tell by the 1-800 etc etc. Simple as that..

Haha they all speak continuously without any pause in the middle so you can't interrupt them. I guess it's a good technique because all telemarketers use it.

I just hang up on them. For restricted numbers, if no one responds within 1-2 seconds after I say hello, I just hang up.

i know they're just doing their job but i don't want (nor do i have the time) to listen to the whole script and say NO in the end. i interrupt them right away and tell them "Sorry I'm not interested."

if they keep on talking, then i'll just hang up.

i'm already registered on the Do Not Call Registry.

oh and if you all want to opt out of those pre-approved credit card offers, i suggest you register here too

haha.

i'm a telemarketer.

*waits for the tomatoes to be thrown*

seriously though i make good money so i'll keep this job. i don't actually SELL, but more like do publicity for a company i won't name (but it's very well-known in canada, or at least the parent company is). we, as telemarketers, get annoyed by customers too. some are REALLY rude and it just ruins your whole day. there are ways to refuse politely.

here's how it works at my worklace:

if you say you are not interested, we WILL do a rebuttal until you say you are not interested again. after that, it's over. tongue.gif

if you answer and realize we're a telemarketer BEFORE we've introduced ourselves, WE WILL CALL BACK. TEN TIMES. so just plainly say that you are not interested OR wait for the introduction before hanging up if you don't want to be bothered again. we will also call back ten times if you never answer.

the reason why you would sometimes have to say 'hello?' a few times before we actually answer is because of the crappy computer systems, not because we are slow. tongue.gif

it is true that if you ask us to take you off the calling list, we WILL do it.

CURSING AT US WON'T MAKE YOU FEEL ANY BETTER.

in fact i've cried before because of really really rude and mean clients. sad.gif *weak heart* and i know it may get annoying, but i make sure to be as polite as possible so it'd just be nice if the other party did the same. ^^ have pity on us little ones trying to make a living.
