If you're coming in here because you're trying to get a job for the first time, wondering what wise advice I have for you, you're in the wrong place unless you read what other people have to say.
Okay.
When I apply for a job, what are some of the things I should / shouldn't do? Or if I get a job interview, what should I do? How do I present myself?
Sorry if I sound lame or stupid but I've never had a job and I've never applied. I'm hoping to get some advice before I actually apply.

Don't act nervous and sweat and stuff during the interview XD
Don't get your words scrambled up, don't say 'terms' like "Um" so much. Not at all is better.
Smile smile smile!
Make it sound as if you know what you're saying all the time, but don't boast too much.

-Dress well (but not over the top either) or just look clean
-Firm handshake
-Sit straight
-Practice answering questions (why do you want this job? what are you qualities? etc). You know they'll ask you.
-If you don't understand something, ASK. It's better to tell them you didn't understand a word/explanation than to make them believe you weren't listening to them.

Goodbye to you. Goodbye to everything that I thought I knew...

Let's see...
-Always show up a little early: people like punctuality because it shows you're serious and you care
-Be positive and let them know you're a team player
-Think of yourself in terms of your strengths, capabilities, and what you'd like to learn (rather than mentioning weaknesses)
-Have good references on your resume as well as (possibly some) volunteer experience
-If the vibe is off in the place, then don't go for the position because you may end up disliking the work environment
-Network out because potential positions may be waiting for you

oh I have a question, when you guys hand in ur resume or application, do you ask to see the manager and hand it to them? Or do you just hand to the cashier person? Also, I heard that you should call a week later on the status of your resume, do any of you do that?

smile!
laugh
be energetic and intelligent
charming!
do your hair nicely, smell nice, dress really nicely
be super excited and have some sort of interest in the job =]
always ask if the manager is available to talk to, and hand it to them directly
I can't tell you how many times the guys I worked with would forget to hand the applications in...or sometimes not give it on purpose if it was an ugly chick... x.x;; haha so bad =X

Dress well. And during the interview, don't sweat or act nervous. If you're really positive and upbeat, most-likely they would hire you. Be charming and energetic. [: Good luck.
