xkrndreamer: im not saying lakers are better cuz thomas isnt there. without the presence of a player on opposing team wont make any other team 'better'. just saying that without kurt, suns dont have his presence down low and lakers can easily exploit that, making their life much much easier.

yeah its ridiculous, and its not just cook! others like odom and especially walton couldve been stopped better.
and do u know why lakers are in control of series? half of it cuz kobe has been playing unselfishly and trusting his teammate. the other half is the absense of amare and kurt thomas. suns need a big man inside. with odom checked, or just have kurt down low for inside presense, lakers cant bash the board like that as easily nor drive in nor pass down low or to 3 pt line where someone's always wide open cuz their defender went to double team someone else. that is where lakers are getting their tempo from and controlling the game, they keep dishing cuz they know someone will always be open down low or by perimiter cuz suns cant defend 1 on 1 against their big guys.
that's why I said Phil Jackson was able to convince Kobe to buy into the game plan. Even with Kurt Thomas, he is not the type of inside presence that would make much of a impact unless it is Amare. The Suns have no good help defenders, so he wouldn't be much of a threat if he had to guard Kwame for the entire game in the low post. There would be no way he could guard Odom, because of his versatility and quickness. The Lakers are controlling the tempo because of Kobe's presence of dictating the offensive plan. They are not playing fast, that is why they don't take quick shots and when they do have a chance for fastbreak points, they just slow it down. If the Lakers had played fast with the Suns and start missing shots, that would lead to transition baskets for the Suns. Even if Kurt Thomas was playing, that takes away the Suns offensive strategy a bit, because he is not known to be a spot up shooter or being able to run down the court...compare to someone like Thomas or Diaw. So, there is also a disadvantage having Kurt Thomas there.

i disagree. take the bulls/heat series for example. the first 2 games, shaq was dominating like crazy on offense and on defense. but in game 3 where he got into foul trouble, because the heat didn't have shaq to draw double teams and block shots, the heat really suffered. the bulls had to play a totally different way when shaq was on the court than when shaq wasn't. i believe one person missing can make the opposing team so much better.

Yup...he either should have been given the time out or the foul. The jump ball call was just horrible.
