Does Too Much Water... make you fat?

Hi i know this seems like such a dumb questions but does too much water make you fat? I just drank like...1.5 L of water today and im bloated...so will too much water make me fat? or will the bloatness go away?

lol what kind of question is that.
water has no calories, obviously it's not going to make u fat
But i read in the newspaper that someone died
cuz of drinking too much water.

what are you thinking?

whatever you consume will increase the size of your stomach which doesnt mean it will turn to fat. stomach is a main storage/organ that carries toxicity, posion, gas, food, liquid, and etc.

water doesn't make you fat - but it can make you bloated. a lot of water can (over)saturate your body and you get a little bloated, but it never lasts. your stomach also expands from a lot of water, like it does from a lot of any food/drink.

it reminds me of some people tell you that exercising in a lot of warm clothes helps you lose weight because you sweat a lot. you're actually just getting rid of "water weight" which comes back when you're hydrated again.

you can die of too much water, like you can die of too much of anything.

Well, actually isn't water a huge factor in metabolism? And metabolism definitely affects your weight.


But I dunno if drinking more water would make you fatter or skinnier. >>;

i think i drink about 1 gallon - 3 gallons a day

If you drink water regularly, your body will be used to getting the water it usually needs and will flush it out regularly. If you don't drink that much water regularly, your body will try to retain the water that you do drink, and that's how you get bloated. smile.gif

^ Yes, because "it had added calories. If you drink it as if it's water, the calories will eventually add up and turn into flab, provided that you don't excercise or do anything to get rid of those extra calories.

Water doesn't have any calories. It won't make you fat. You'll just feel bloated after consuming it.

And it's good for the body. Too much isn't.

i know what you mean. some people drink alot of water and not only do they feel bloated, but the water is actually stored in the body, like water retention?) which will make you look bloated.

thats why when overweight ppl go on diets alot of the initial weight loss is water weight.

i have an aunty who went for this special chinese massage that helps get rid of store water in the body. but im sure we wont need to do that at this age coz its not like its causing a big problem

like others have said, water doesn't make you fat, though excess dietary sodium and some medications/supplements can make you store water longer than usual and can sometimes give you a temporary "puffy" look

i'd say it's generally impossible to commit suicide by drinking water alone - if you don't throw it up, it'd probably start coming out the other end. maybe if someone was really comitted, they'd pass out from the pain/discomfort and choke on the water.
