This 4 movie re-telling is supposed to "make sense" in the end, unlike the series. I sure hope that is the case. I suppose the first movie will be about introductions, so i won't be expecting much.

first, i didn't know that it was going to be a four parter, so i spent the first half of the movie wondering where asuka, etc were.
basically, there are some new scenes.
they used more computer graphics so some things look all cgi and the animation looks....brighter??
the angels are the same, but the way they die (not the way they are killed) is different.
asuka and kaji will be in the next "episode".
kaworu made an appearance in the movie though. he fell out of a cardboard box and stood up naked...with the shadow of the moon concealing his man bits.
product placement (ucc coffee, lawsons (convienence store in japan), pizza hut, yebisu beer).
when the movie ended i tried to buy some of the goods that they *said* were on sale, but they were all sold out.
the saturday showing was sold out and the ones that weren't were "standing room only".
all in all, it was OK.
i think seeing it in a movie theatre in japan was the cool thing. also, it's been so long since i'd seen EVA that it was good to see it again.
for those interested, a new EVA manga "puchi eva" is coming out. they're all tiny and there's 3 rei's.

As with Torrent, you'd be surprised at the cam quality they have out there these days. I don't mind watching cam vids as long as the audience doesn't step into the screen in the middle of the film =.=

I no the movie was #1 over the weekend, but it's gross was pretty low, was there a low theater count.
For those still confused:
The first three movies will basically re-tell the entire series, with of course, enhanced graphics, cgi, etc.
The last movie will be completely new, with a more "satisfying" ending, since most fans (including myself) were disappointed with the original series' and End of Evangelion's ending.
I wouldn't mind watching all four movies either, even if the first three are re-tellings. At least seeing it with improved graphics will be satiating enough, and on a big screen with surround sound...Someone wake m from this dream lol.
Litme mixed girl, since you already saw it, when did they play Hikki's songs in the movie? Like in what scenes, and did they remix her songs at all?
I LOVE Beautiful World, regardless of how much the fanboys complain about it being too mainstream, the lyrics fit the series very, very well.
We love you unnie, please keep watching over us.

the movie didn't play in a lot of theatres.
i was lucky that i live in the city, because my city was the ONLY movie theatre in the whole prefecture that was showing the movie. and it's only playing until the 21st of this month...
utada's song was played with the ending credits, and that's it.
there's some new music in the series too. like during the battle scenes and stuff.
personally i didn't really mind the end of eva too much hahaha.
but there's always room for more eva!

Too bad Evangelion doesn't get as much theaters as the usual Miyazaki film lol. Only two more weeks? That sucks...At least that means those unfortunate enough might get a crappy torrent to download.
Ahhhhh...So Hikki's song was just the ending. I think that if they remixed it into a ballad version, it would fit into the movie even better. Glad it's still helping her sales though.
I didn't mind End of Eva either, I was a bit confused, but after watching it a few more times...I understood it, and was actually kind of satisfied. I think all the anime fanboys just want a big battle to explode instead of the typical instumentality ending lol.
Can't wait to watch them all!
