I got an e-mail from Ebay today saying that my bid for an item has been cancelled because I didn't pay for it.

We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been suspended due to concerns we have for the safety and integrity of the eBay community.

"Abusing eBay" of the eBay User Agreement states, in part:

"...we may limit, suspend, or terminate our service and user accounts, prohibit access to our website, remove hosted content, and take technical and legal steps to keep users off the Site if we think that they are creating problems, possible legal liabilities, or acting inconsistently with the letter or spirit of our policies."

Due to the suspension of this account, please be advised you are prohibited from using eBay in any way. This includes the registering of a new account.

Please note that any seller fees due to eBay will immediately become due and payable. eBay will charge any amounts you have not previously disputed to the billing method currently on file.

Regards,

eBay Trust & Safety

The next email said:

QUOTE
Dear eBay Community Member,
The bid that you entered for the item (120147138378) has been cancelled. You can view the reason provided for the cancellation by selecting the (bid history) link from the individual item page.

Regards,
eBay

When I clicked on the link, this showed up:

It says it's already been paid!!! WHAT THE HECK??

On my Paypal account, you can see that it's been sent and received.

And on my online banking account, you can see that the money's been taken out.

So can someone tell me why my account is suspended when I already paid for it?

And can someone help me resolve this problem with Ebay??

this is a bit vague - did they prohibit access to the site? (have you contacted ebay about it?)

i can email them a copy of what you've posted here if you'd like

after clicking on the link and looking at the purchase history like it said in the second email, it seems the seller has left positive feedback for you.

I can log in and view my messages, but I can't bid for anything.

And I just got this message:

QUOTE
Due to your recent indefinite suspension, eBay has removed all feedback you have left for other users. This includes positive, neutral and negative feedback ratings and comments.

eBay removes feedback when a user is indefinitely suspended for certain policy violations within 90 days of registration. eBay takes the position that members indefinitely suspended soon after registration shouldn't be able to permanently impact another member's account.

Any feedback you have received will remain in your profile. If your account is reinstated, your feedback will be visible to other members of the community.

Thank you,
eBay

Yes, please help me contact ebay if you can...I already sent them 2 emails but they haven't gotten back with me yet. Is there a number I can call?

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the suspension of your account.

Your account was suspended under the "Abusing eBay" section of the eBay
User Agreement. This section states that eBay may suspend a user's
account if we think that the user is creating problems (legal or
otherwise) or acting inconsistently with the letter or spirit of our
policies.

In addition, your account was found to be in violation of our Spam
Policy.
eBay defines spam as the distribution of unsolicited (without
prior permission) commercial email. Some examples of spam include:

- Sending unsolicited offers to buyers advertising the same or similar
products they have bid on in the past.

- Contacting a seller with an offer to purchase an item listed on eBay
directly from the seller without using the eBay auction process.

For more information about spam, please review the following help page:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/rfe-spam-general.html

To have your account considered for reinstatement, please fax us both of
the following:

- *Completed* Request for Reinstatement form (To be processed, the form
must include the User ID and email address of the suspended account that
you're appealing, as well as a working phone number.)
- Copy of your driver's license or other government issued ID with your
name and address clearly visible

Also include *one* of the following:

- Copy of a recent credit card statement (copy of the actual credit card
is not acceptable)
- Copy of a recent bank statement
- Copy of a recent utility bill

To print a copy of the Request for Reinstatement form, go to:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/poisec9reinstform.html

***Important***
All contact information listed on the documents that you submit with
your appeal must be consistent with the contact information listed on
your registered eBay account. If any differences exist, you must provide
an explanation for these discrepancies, as well as documentation that
confirms your explanation.

If your eBay contact information is your work address, please send
official documentation to validate this.

***Important***
Be sure to include the User ID and email address of the suspended
account that you're appealing on the Request for Reinstatement Form. If
your fax doesn't contain this information, we won't be able to process
it.

Please fax all documentation to:

eBay
Attention: Abusing eBay Appeals

U.S. Fax Number: 1-877-349-1798
International Fax Number: 001 + 801-545-2700

Please allow 48 to 72 hours for your request for appeal to be processed.
Sending us an email before that time may delay your request.

***Privacy Note***
Any documents submitted to us will be destroyed after the information
has been reviewed and verified. If you're concerned about including your
credit card number, you can black out all but the first and last four
digits. However, your full name and address must be legible for us to
process your request.

Thank you for your time.

Does this have anything to do with this? I cancelled a bid for an mp3 player because I won another mp3 player.

Was this the reason why my account has been suspended?

Pretty pathetic that they don't list their phone number on the website.

First, your saying someone used your account and sent random emails to others, correct? If so, change your password and make it difficult including lower case, capital letters, and numbers. Write it down too. If the person is still able to get into your account, then you probably have spyware or something.

If nothing works out, then I would say contact Better Business Bureau. Although, I don't know if they can do anything with ebay. It doesn't hurt to try.
