I don't know why this is happening to my computer, but as of late, every time I start my computer, half of the screen is blanked out with varying strips of colors..
I remember a few weeks ago, my computer suddenly froze and there were these bars of colors and codes everywhere..but I forced shut my computer and when I restarted it, it was fine.

But recently, these fragmented lines keep showing up. I don't know if my computer is corrupted or if it's a virus, because I haven't d/led anything with a potential virus to my knowledge. After about 10 minutes, the lines go away and everything looks normal again. It's very distressing to look at.

Can anyone help? sad.gif

Wow it actually goes to NORMAL?!! Generally a cracked LCD but if it actually comes back.. your video chip/motherboard is probably dying on you... if you're lucky it might be a separate little card on the board you can replace otherwise its the whole board thats going out on you and thats just not cool..

Oh even slight slight possibility the ribbon is damaged, again it would be strange for it to come back like that. Honestly don't know, this is something to call up dell about.

The exact same thing happened to my cousin's laptop, except hers was Toshiba. She called them up and they told her she had to get it fixed at a store for TONS of money. I think the best thing you should do right now is call Dell, maybe they can do something about it.

^ OH man...I'm not exactly loaded with money either. But she did get it fixed, yeah? hmm.
Thanks for your help anyway, guys.

Does anyone know the exact problem for this?

Your graphics card could be overheating.

^ Considering it's a laptop, TECHNICALLY, the graphics cards should not be overheating -- unless the video card was overclocked (which I doubt). However, it could be due to a faulty design. But yea....

Technically it was designed not to overheat. But how often do people actually clean out their laptops? Dust is a huge thing to battle... I still vote checking all the ribbons and consider options for video chip. Of course dont do anything if you have warranty.

Lately, the lines haven't been showing, but thanks for your advice everyone. I'll have it checked ASAP to make sure (:
