A "Calls for Service" report from the Santa Monica Police Department confirms that Owen Wilson tried to commit suicide Sunday.

In the report, obtained by the syndicated entertainment show "Extra," the reason for the 911 call from the actor's house is listed as an "attempted suicide." The call was received Sunday at 12:08:16 p.m. The incident was "cleared" almost five hours later at 5:07:16 p.m.

A source who is purportedly close to Wilson also confirmed that the actor attempted suicide over the weekend, according to "Extra."

The unnamed source told "Extra" that Wilson has been depressed for the last few months, but insisted it is not over a broken relationship. The source also said that Wilson's brother actor Luke Wilson found him and that Wilson's family and friends are shocked.

Police and paramedics responded to a call at Wilson's home Sunday, and Wilson was reportedly transported to a local hospital.

Wilson released a statement to the media Monday asking that he be left alone after being hospitalized.

"I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time," Wilson said in a statement issued to celebrity news outlet TMZ.com.

The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles confirmed Monday that Wilson was admitted to the hospital Sunday night. A spokesperson told "Extra" that the actor is in "good condition."

According to reports in Star magazine and the National Enquirer, Wilson was transported by paramedics on Sunday to a California hospital after a possible suicide attempt.

The Santa Monica Police Department issued a statement Sunday saying it made a joint response with fire department paramedics to a medical aid call at Wilson's Santa Monica address.

"A person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated," the release stated. "Due to HIPAA medical privacy laws, no further information is being released."

But Star magazine and the National Enquirer jointly reported Sunday night that Wilson, the star of popular comedies including "Wedding Crashers" and "You, Me and Dupree," had slit his left wrist and taken unidentified pills in an attempt to kill himself.

Wilson was transported to Saint John's Health Center after being discovered by a family member who called 911, the publications reported.

"Entertainment Tonight" reported that the actor was transferred to Cedars-Sinai to receive detoxification treatment. Wilson's actor-brother Luke was seen leaving the Beverly Hills treatment center.

Owen Wilson, 38, has starred in a number of successful films, including "The Royal Tenenbaums," for which he earned a writing Academy Award nomination, and "Zoolander."

A member of Hollywood's so-called Frat Pack of young comedy actors and a notorious bachelor nicknamed "The Butterscotch Stallion," Wilson was last reportedly involved with actress Kate Hudson, but the relationship ended in June.

By overdosing on pills, cutting your wrist, or other certain ways, there is no certainty that that will kill you.

I hope Owen Wilson becomes a stronger person and learns how to deal with his emotional pain in another way... My heart goes out to him and his family. It must have been very traumatic for Luke to find his brother in that kind of condition...

i beg to differ. many ppl have different ways to kill themselves. there is a possiblity tht yoo can live even if yoo jump off a 10-story building..yoo'd be in crucial pain but its possible.

You have it the other way around. If he wanted attention, jumping in front of a moving train or jumping of a 10 story building would be "attention seeking", also, you make it sound so easy to die just by jumping off a building or jumping in front of a train. At both sites, there would be many people around to witness the suicide attempts in which they would try, and maybe succeed in stopping him. This would get the "attention" that he "wants". Slitting the wrist or overdosing on pills can be done privately, and alone, in his own home. These are some of the most common actions of attempting suicide which can be affective.

I feel bad for Owen. Even if it was a cry for attention, he had to be messed up in the head, and/or really hurting to do something like that.
