For a few months I've been on a diet where I consume mostly fruits and veggies and fish(occassionally). No beef, pork, chicken or any other meats. I don't eat bread/rice/carbs nor do I drink soda or eat junk food. Well I have a little chocolate when I feel down but I don't consume any other sugary/processed substances. I had a LOT of hair and sometimes when I shower and wash my hair (daily) some hair falls out or when I brush my hair some hair gets pulled and tangles onto the brush. This has been happening since I was a child but I haven't really noticed it until a friend told me that I didn't have as much hair as I did before. I'm getting worried.. really worried.

I dyed my hair about 6 months ago and you can already see 3-4 inches of my roots already. I use a variety of shampoos/conditioners but mainly the l'oreal el vive nutri-gloss shampoo&conditioner and sometimes garnier fructis & aussie conditioners. Every time I wash my hair some hair falls and when I use a towel to dry my hair I see hair on the towel. I still have hair right now but its just scaring the crap out of me!

Should I change my shampoo/conditioner or is it my diet? What can I add into my diet to help this? I NEED HELP!

You lose an average of about 50-100 strands of hair each day. I dont know how 50-100 strands of hair looks like though.. usually when I'm in the shower and shampooing/conditioning my hair I lose a lot of strands & when I dry my hair with a towel I see some hair on it too, but not really a lot. Stress also causes hair loss. Maybe changing your diet may have caused you to lose more hair? unsure.gif

um, maybe it's the lack of protein in your diet...lack of protein in your diet usually causes lackluster hair and weak nails.

there's nothing wrong with meat (unless you're spiritual, or do not want to eat an animal), as long as you eat lean cuts (and do not fry them).

even carbs are supposed to be good for you (good carbs in moderation, no bleached flour, white bread), you need them especially if youre exercising.

if youre a vegetarian or something and you dont want to eat meat,
you can find vitamin pills that have protein in them that way you can
intake protein without changing your diet.

but be sure to follow the bottle's intructions because
i agree with deportedkorean about the protein thing.

goodluck to you, i hope you dont lose as much hair anymore :/

I know certain shampoos and conditioners might make hair fall out like Pantene.. not sure about the shampoo your using. Make sure to wash your hair clean as often as possible. And try some vitamin pills for protein..

you disagree? but its a fact.

hair is made up of protein. no protein = no hair

"Protein Is Important

Since hair is protein, a diet that is too low in protein may cause some thinning in hair or a retardation in the growth cycle. The converse is true, If you eat a protein-rich diet it will often result in improved hair growth.

Some nutritional experts suggest the dietary utilization of calves liver, brewer's yeast, wheat germ and a daily dose of two tablespoons of granulated lecithin to maximize hair growth, strength and beauty.

Other good food sources for protein include fish, eggs, beans and yogurt. Soy protein has also been found to be helpful in stimulating hair growth.

One study of the results of soy on the hair found that it not only strengthened the hair but caused it to grow. A great source of soy is tofu."

I lose a bajillion hair strands, literally... my dad says I leave my hair everywhere in the house >_>;... but my hair is still as thick oO;
So I don't know why you'd be losing alot of hair and they're not growing back enough for your hair to maintain volume o_o;; aside from the possiblity of your diet.
