ok so this year i'm a senior but unfortunately i am unable to take anymore languages!
stupid school.

french is very limited in my school there are only 2 classes (for nearly 2000 students..), 1 regular and 1 AP and unfortunately i was unable to take AP 'cause i got a B my junior year.
ONE STINKING B+

But anyways, i did get into regular french 4 BUT the only period that is available is when i have leadership.

now, i'd probably drop leadership in a heartbeat if i hadn't had an asb commission position.

so what i'm trying to say is, will this affect me harshly?

it's not completely my fault.. french 4 regular usually was 1st period but they switched it to 4th this year sad.gif

A lot of us on here have had to sacrifice our AP language classes due to scheduling conflicts that couldn't be worked out. It often happens because as the level of a language, in high school, goes up, demand goes down, so it'll usually have one period and it'll be that same period that we need AP English for.

It won't affect you too much, even with the really prestigious universities. They'll understand but if you feel the need to explain why in an interview, that'll probably elevate yourself in their eyes. Anyway, don't worry about it.

I'm in the same situation. dry.gif It really sucks. I'm transferring out tomorrow officially. biggrin.gif
I had to choose stats over French and we only have one French AP class.

I've heard that taking 4 years of a language makes a big difference and I really wish I could take 4 years!
I'm going to take some French tutoring or cc classes and see if I'll be ready for the French AP test though.

But seeing as how you're taking leadership and was almost able to get into French AP, I don't think it'll hurt you. smile.gif
You could explain it in your personal statement or something too. mellow.gif

I don't know but my Spanish teachers can't stress enough on how "yay pass the regents // exams, 3 years done and over with, WOOT!! is not that good and is 'average' " yeah but what the others said.. if you have a chance to explain yourself you should.

ugh... I know what you mean. There's only one French Teacher at my school, and so next semester, I signed up for French 4 and Art 4, and they're both in 3rd period. It's either French or Art. I really don't know what I'm going to do. I love art and french. sad.gif

Try asking the schools you're looking to attend. They'll know more than any of us here on Soompi. =] Good luck!

I'm a junior, and I only took 3 years of spanish (8th grade, freshman, and sophomore). I am NOT taking a language class now. I took spanish 3 honors last year, but this year, I couldnt fit it into my schedule.
My counselor said that it should not affect anything too much.

Haha, happened to me too.
I had to drop French 4 because AP bio and AP calc were conflicting with it.

As long as 4 years of language is not a requirement to get into your college of choice, you should be fine. If it is required you may have to discuss options like independant study... you do what you gotta do to get it done you know.

I only took two years of language.... (i only went to hs for two years lol, so that is why)
