--and yes, I've already checked the softwares list.
Basically, all I need is a free program simply so that I can back up avi and rmvb files
and play it on my laptop.
I used Nero for awhile as a trial, but then realized I made a mistake while burning it.
So now I'm stuck with some data files that don't play as videos, and I tried fixing it
but the trial ended. D:
Anyone have any suggestions?

You just want data CDs right? Not DVD movies?
CDBunerXP
and
Deep Burner are pretty decent free burning programs.

Heck, Windows XP (probably Vista?) you can just drag the files you want to backup onto the dvd drive in explorer, then right click on the drive and there should be an option to burn the files to disk that way. I've used it quite a bit and it works just fine.
