vivian!!! long time no see ^^. anyways, i agree. i think it΄s hard to say i like it or i hate it etc... because Vpop is pretty diverse. while i don΄t really like the old stuff and the mainstream stuff, there are a few really outstanding artists.

But otherwise My tam does pretty good songs. I like her song "Uoc Gi" - it's very touching and sad.
I also like "Yeu Voi" by Tam Doan.

My playlist mainly consists of Chinese + American songs. Some Japanese and Korean.
Although I am not a fan or even frequent listener of Vietnamese music. I have to admit, minus the cover versions of various songs, there are very "modern" artist out there. The traditional or "oldies" Vietnamese music, are very admirable, but they put me to sleep...so I avoid at all cost.

I agree with this person. "Uoc gi" was a very good song, until my dad/brother overplayed it and my cousin killed it by singing the song.

Anyway, I actually think Vpop is just stupid. Being Vietnamese myself, I try to get myself into my own music, but everytime I hear SOMETHING, I end up hating it badly. Because it's either way a cover of a Chinese, Korean or Japanese song or just a stupid composed song by the viet themselves. They should send the composers abroad to learn how to actually make 'teen'/'modern' music ._. Cause really, it's crap.
I'm usually very open to new stuff, but Vietnamese music always gave me the "Meh..." -feeling. Watching Paris by Night these isn't much fun anymore as it was before the millenium lol.

isn't the topic maker said "Vietnamese music"? ok, then can you tell me exactly what kind of TCS's music? its not pop ballad then what is it? i'm glad to be updated the music knowledge.
Vpop is NOT stupid, do not equate. just few singers singing some stupid songs and you choose to listen those ones, then you say its stupid. lol.
and response to the cover you said. Mr./Ms. , it abounds in this world. are you sure Chinese, Korean or Japanese don't copy the US/UK music? everyone always tends to imitate what he thinks its good, nice, or at least just something that deserves him to do. same to music, if that country has developed music, ppl call it "learning". and on the contrary, if it's underdeveloped music country, they call it "copying". thats it.
it sucks to hear people call their own music "stupid" even though they still don't get the whole yet.

well... those times that you hear those bad songs... you can't really generalize the WHOLE v-pop with those....
v-pop is INDEED infamous for copying songs from other countries... but in fact... it's the AUDIENCE that makes it seem that way sometimes...
I'm surfing vpop forums pretty much everyday so yah... I do follow vpop to find GOOD songs to listen to... these are situations that the fault kinda goes to the audience~
1. there's this Viet girl-band, May Trang... the leader [ Thu Ngoc] wrote the Vietnamese version for one of Twin's songs and they sang it... that song was SOOO famous that she wasn't stupid to claim it her own... but it was the mistake from the TV people that labeled that song as Thu Ngoc's song [idk if I make any sense xD]... and they got blamed for it... It was originally a cover song.... now the audience [mostly anti-fans] blamed it to the singers themselves due to a small mistake and it wasn't even their mistake~
2. some Viet composers are really losers... they copy songs/write Viet lyrics... sell the copyright of that song to a singer [she totally wasn't aware of it AT ALL] ... and when she sang it.... she got blamed for copying by the audience... but in fact it was the loser-face composer's fault... it was partially her fault for not being careful~ but she didn't deserve the blame for copying~...
3. nowadays, ANY songs with a bit English words or with GOOD beat... audience [yeppp mostly anti-fans of that singer as well] accused that those songs have the "copy" feelings from Korean/Chinese/English/whatever music...
more but I cant remember atm
kk... introducing to you guys some Viet songs out of gazillion other good Viet songs out there~ [these are purely composed by Viet singers that are never "yet" been proven copy songs
listen and opinionate on these =)
1. Khoc Them Lan Nua [Cry One More Time or simply Cry Again]- Bao Thy [i know she kinda has a bad reputation after covering the 10 Minutes Viet version of Hyori's song but she does have a good voice~]

2. Tim Dau [Where?]- Bao Thy ft. Vuong Khang
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y46O_nuHZj0
3. Con Mua Chieu [The Afternoon rain?! xD haha idk] - Bich Tram
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjI1JVCsmus she has nice voice =)
4. Thien Duong Vang Em [heaven without you] - Dang Khoi [i like his voice as well]

i only love viet ballads, yeah it is known that they tend to copy/cover cpop/kpop but thats mostly it.
most of their ballads are all originals.
minh tuyet's a great singer and many of her songs are good.

I haven't heard anything new about them, though. They were pretty good~
(It's still considered as Vpop, right? Even though they're Korean *sweatdrops*)
