I have to decide what dish to cook for a bulimic person (person with bulimia)
and the DEADLINE is tomorrow!! crazy.gif
well to be exact, it's at 9pm tomorrow.

so yeah.. i have no idea what to cook.
I have already done the other work and research (my god that took so long -.-), and now THIS!

On top of this, which is Decision making,
I still have to prepare a Time plan, Equipment list and a Food order list.

So obviously, without the decision, i cannot proceed doing the Time Plan and so on. sweatingbullets.gif

What's the difference in cooking for a bulimic person and a normal person? They both eat, but just that in the end, the bulimic throws up whatever she eats. Bulimia is a disorder and different types of foods wont make a difference. Personal preference to a certain type of foods is completely different. If you're thinking what types of foods might be more settling for the stomach then it's wrong, it has something to do with the body being used to regurgitating everything and also something to do with the mind. I suggest you do a bit of research on bulimia.

With that said, cook anything. Pick a universal flavor on food if you don't know what they like. Salty foods are a safe bet because well...not a lot of people say no to salty foods.

I think bulimic people eat and barf coz the main reason is they don't want to get fat or think they're already fat? Usually they will binge on fattening foods and those high in calories etc. and then purging them out later on. What about trying a low-caloried recipe? Really really non-fattening type? I'm sorry I really don't know what else to think of. Also, I don't have any recipes.. just trying to give you an idea.. sweatingbullets.gif Good luck!

um.. i dont know whats the difference between cooking for a normal person and a bulimic person...
but if youre saying like... what would be best to feed them, then maybe some kind of soup... easily digestable? i dk, so at least they digest some of it before they purge it all

Well if you're talking about a case where they don't puke it out cause they're being forced not to or something -

I suggest a serious case of potatoes.
Those are wonderful, but they're as fattening as (fill in the blank).
So, yeah.
Fries, mashed, in pies, baked, eaten straight...
ANYTHING. Potatoes are great, super flexible.

To everyone that said there is no difference between cooking for a bulimic and a normal person: i dont see how this can be the same. i'm no medical expert but since a bulimic person regurgitates their food along with acids in their stomach. this acid greatly deteriorates their esophagus and teeth, and weakens their body's ability to digest b/c their stomach hasnt done so for so long. so a long term bulimic wouldnt be able to chow down a large piece of steak a normal person would.

to the OP: i would think that you should cook something nutritious yet can be easily digested to help the bulimic start their recovery process without over burdening their body. i would probably cook a bulmic chicken soup with lots of vegetables. brown rice thats a little bit mushy. and for protein perhaps a tofu shake or something with tofu. steamed fish might also work.

I don't get this assignment. There's no difference in what normal people and what bulimic people eat. The difference lies in the fact that bulimia is a psychological disorder - the person suffers from it will eat (usually binge eat) then feel guilty and thus throw up.

is this homework or something? it sounds like that or the bulimic recovering person you're taking care of is SUPER OCD and controlling... yeah i'd recommend looking up wat anorexic ppl eat for recoveries too.. although they're all just food... eat healthy stuff?

Yo they arn't afriad of getting fat it is a DISORDER, you can't help yourself if you throw up from time to time.
defintily not chinese food where there are lots of msg, fat and too sweet for bulimic people, the portion should be SMALL like baby sizes and tiem to time increase the portion little by little. The best type oof food to feed bulimic people would be anything with fruits in them, honey dew melons, korean melons any type of melon. For dishes I would recommmend soup as well but it has to be filled with little chunks of meet or solid food in it, because watery food will cause them to throw up.
