I'm planning to go into pharmacy, but for my first year (starting in a week), and these are the classes im registered in for now

english
math
2 chem classes
2 organic chem classes
bio
stats
biochem

so 9 classes in the whole yr
and i was wondering if that's a bit too much?
b/c we could take prereq classes over either 1 yr or split taking these classes over 2 yrs
i heard organic chem is hard and it's recommended that i take them the 2nd yr when i'll use to the university work load.

what do u guys think would be better to do? unsure.gif

It does seem like a bit much, seeing as you're entering with absolutely no experience, but if you're prepared to work, by all means, go for it.

I posted this in a seperate thread, but when you're applying at two different schools for pharmacy, do you need to complete the respective prerequisites for each school? For example, I want to apply at both University of BC and University of Alberta, I'd have to complete every prerequisite for both schools, correct? How am I supposed to know the course equivalents of each school?

hey i had a few questions for you guys
i'm a prospective pharmacy student, hoping to get into the pharmacy program at my university.
I was wondering how some of you guys got positions at different pharmacies. Did you guys just go to different pharmacies and ask if there were positions available?

I looked online for positions available in my area and I visited my school's pharmacy and prepharm website but there wasn't anything specifically I could find. I was hoping to gain some experience as a pharmacy assistant or a B tech or something. I already have the license to be an assistant for my state.

Heyyy, I'm going to be a freshman at UCSD this fall.

I got admitted after applying for BioChemistry: Chemistry.

I was wondering what majors were suitable for people who want to become pharmacists.
I know it doesn't even have to be science, as long as I fulfill the requirements for the pharmacy school, but I'm just curious.

Some classes during senior year made me interested in engineering and I was also wondering if BioEngineering would be fine if I want to become a pharmacist.

Some help would be great, and thanks (:

I am going to be a second yr this fall at uci. currently undeclared but is somewhat considering pharmacy to be a possible major.

I am already a year behind and need to make a decision fast.
I am not too sure if I am up for this field yet. People have told me that I am capable of doing this major because chem is based on memory and I am able to memorize things easily. I know I am able to past the classes with passing grades.

Overall I am saying I could get the major if I do work hard but definitely the major is my favorite. I was wondering is there an easier to become a pharmacist?
My bro told me that his friend is a business major but is interning for a pharmacy and is hoping to become a pharmacist.
And others told me that ppl at the local pharmacy werent the highly intelligent ppl but were able to work there. So did they just go to get a master in pharmacy school or what?

I'm also enrolled into a five year program at my current college. Also after obtaining my doctor of pharmacy and getting licensed I also get a B.A. in biology from the college.

You know these classes sounds very much what my first year at my pharmacy school sounds like. We basically had to study a whole year of organic chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, stats and drug delievery as well as pharmaceutics. Im still studying pharmacy tho... but I read that its longer in the US? smthn like 8 YEARS????? U kiddin me???? its like 4 years in UK!!! There is are alot of students that came to study in the UK from US and Canada maily becoz its shorter!!!!!! Bear in mind, its expensive!! Before I got into Pharmacy school, I studied Chemistry, Biology and Psychology....That was it! blush.gif

If u need more info.. im happy to help dry.gif
...Love me

UCSF has a pharmacy school. UCLA has a good med school, but the two are different (:

Let's see.... o chem/g chem combined into one class. stats, but pharmacy orientated, a class related to honesty and respecting patients, and a pharm bio class.

I'll be in debt $150k at least.
