I'm definitely screwed for the Skaggs School of Pharm at UCSD. I don't think I'm even
mentally prepared for the math and chemistry courses.

Anyways, I come from Quebec, Canada, and the admissions and studies in pharm are way different from yours... Here, we don't have pre-pharm (possibly cause we did all the organic chem and biology in CEGEP for two years) and then we have 4 years and a half of studies including work? I don't know the name in English, but in French it's called "stage"... if it helps anyone... Oh and we don't have any type of interview, except a psychometric test? I don't know if it's the right name..
So yah I just applied to pharmacy and I'm waiting impatiently for an answer... Hmm. I'm pretty scared at the courses I need to take the first year if I get in... I heard it's like, 8 courses per semester O__O which sounds insane (cause normally in university people take like, 4-5 courses right?) But I guess many people before me made it through... *sigh*

would it be harder to get into pharmacy schools in Canada compared to ones in US after I get my B.S. in Chemistry?

And it's depressing me and motivating me at the same time...
There are only 3 pharmacy schools in my state T.T which means more competition.
Sigh... more classes to take.
I actually might have to start studying hardcore now.
This is gonna be a short-fast-paced 7 years or a long drawn out one. D:
^ i totally agree....now im really afraid.
im also going for a pharmacy field, but i might lean toward a Doctors...not sure though.
tat means i need to study hard and bring up my GPA...since years does fly by fast.
crap.
@kmalancer: THANKS that was really helpful.
Im going to a 4 year college and doing my major on Biological Science. Do you think attending a four year college first is good?
and if i want to get into med school what is the best GPA?
What is the best advise for me since im just a first-year college student?
thank you!

Best GPA? As high as you can get -- 4.0. I think most people have above 3.5 at least.

If your english is good enough for you to take the pharmacy prereqs and the PCATS and do well on them then I think you would be fine. But then you would probably have to work harder. So you must also be strongly motivated

If that's what you're really passionate about then you have to work hard. If English isn't your first language and struggling with it, I suggest extra-extra English classes and writing classes that will help you. And you might want to go to a public speaking class after. I mean, weak English skills is a downer but... it shouldn't be stopping you if you want to study pharmacy badly. Learning English is a skill, so ... just do a lot of reading, talk in English a lot, write in English a lot. Pretty sure, you'll excel in no time as long as you're determined.
