Any tips on not getting so nervous of singing in public? =T

Also, I can't go all out when I sing. Something inside me just doesn't allow me to go all out but I can feel it there...If you know what I mean. That goes especially for high notes. I wish I could just go so loud when singing my high notes but whenever I get to the high note of a song, my voice gets automatically really quiet and I sound like I'm whispering it out. XP

I have a question about Fading Out a track.

I'm performing in a few weeks time and I need my instrumental to fade at the end. But when i load it onto Audacity the song itself won't even play like usual let alone let me fade it. So I'm thinking maybe it's something to do with the track BUT I'm not sure what.

So does anyone know any other programs that will fade out a song? Supposedly Audition won't do it either - which is strange. . .

Any help is appreciated!

^ I don't use those programs but if it still won't fade, if you send me the instrumental, I'll do it for you? X:

what program do you use?

it's just the thing is, i haven't really figured out where to fade it out. . . i'm still trying to work out which would be the best way. i wanted to just experiment with fading it at different sections of the ending.

i'd love for you to do it for me! as long as i figure out where to fade it out >.<

if it's not too much trouble ; could you tell me what program you use, if i can download it for free anywhere + any steps to fade it?

I use Sony Acid and I got it from the store so I don't know if there is a trial ._.; But if you find one and need any help with the fading, I can do a picture tutorial for you.

Getting nervous on stage ;_;...It's happened to me too many times before. As lame as it sounds, I think the best solution is just "getting lost in the music". Sing something that your passionate about.

I've gotten used to the stage though now, so I haven't really experienced nervousness on stage lately. The other solution you could always try is just keep doing it over and over again until you don't care where you are singing, as long as you're singing.

I also do public speaking...which helps a lot.

I'm not much of an actor but I suppose attending acting/drama lessons would help as well? Anything to get you on stage more.

And as for going all out...I still get moments of that some times sad.gif... I'm just afraid that my voice will suddenly crack or something. But I guess the only real solution is to just not care about it. Just don't worry about the performance and believe everything will go fine!! biggrin.gif

Hope I was of some help!

I've heard of people saying you can ask the Noraebang place to record your singing. Is this true? Has anyone done this? What does the end result sound like?

Heyah! Some quickies on a home studio. I'm not a pro at this and there are definitely better informed soompiers so... this is just some basic stuff:

You'll need a sound board, a microphone, and cables to attach everything to one another. Also, some sort of a recording program (if you really want to get high tech, especially if you want to record an instrument, I say go for ProTools--but I think ProTools is expensive and you could use other programs like Cool Edit, etc. to get out good results too.)

http://homerecording.about.com/od/micropho.../mic_types.html <-- someone sent me this link the other day about different kinds of microphone. I think that'll help get you started.

Sorry I'm no pro and I didn't go into detail. They say Shure microphones have great quality.

Okay, I have a question about my voice.
I think I'm losing my voice, which isn't a good thing at all.
Because I have a concert coming up this weekend.

Uhm...it tastes gross...but I boil walnut shells and drink it...

It tastes REALLY BITTER

But usually, for me at least, my dry raspy throat is gone the next day.

It's like...chinese herbal medicine stuff or something. At least that's what I'm told...

Don't try using webcam mics. You're really not gonna get rid of that static unless you buy a proper mic.

thanks for all the advice here, guys.
a couple of questions/ comments:
ive found that no matter what i drink, it doesnt make an impact on how my voice sounds. is this true or am i just not hearing the difference maybe? i dont know.
and when i sing some songs (like by pink, avril lavigne and stuff,) my voice goes all scratchy. i know the song is like that, but i just get so stuck in what it sounds like that i cant sing it any other way. i guess thats a good thing, but would you suggest anything (even psychological) to help me with not singing them like that?
thanks if you can help.

LOVE out LOUD.

From what I understand, room temperature water is the best because it will hydrate your vocal cords properly by giving it a thin coat of liquid which will help your vocal cords work better; soda and such contains sugar which will make you constantly thirsty and give you that thick saliva cause of the sugar, LOL I sound like I'm bs'ing my self. I might be wrong, but thats what I've always thought anyways. blink.gif

edit-

just something i found on the net.

QUOTE
The vocal folds need to be lubricated with a thin layer of mucus in order to vibrate efficiently. The best lubrication can be achieved by drinking plenty of water. A good rule of thumb (if you have normal kidneys and heart function) is to drink at least two quarts of water daily. Dr. Van Lawrence, world renowned Laryngologist, often said, Drink until you pee pale.

Caffeine and alcohol pull water out of your system and deplete the vocal folds of needed lubrication. Caffeinated drinks include coffee, tea, and soft drinks. Small amounts of these beverages are acceptable but must be counterbalanced by drinking more water.
