that's pretty much a basic frequency editing via an equalizer. if you're not familiar with equalizers and/or frequencies, it might be confusing. i don't know what audacity has, but that effect is usually accomplished through an equalizer to remove the frequencies below around 1000 Hz and above 3000 Hz. It will produce that telephone-like quality (and this is what actually happnes in telephones).

My voice always sounds a bit weak when i sing.
Is there anyway I can make it stronger?
Maybe you can try to breathe in air into your stomach instead of lungs..?
Try to suck in air through your nose or maybe mouth and make sure your shoulder and lungs do not move when you breathe, instead let your stomach to expand... I don't know how to explain but that way, your voice will automatically sound more stable and louder... that's what my choir senior taught me, but this kind of things take years to train to sound really like those professional singers...
Also, maybe you can harden your voice when you reach high notes....
And the best way is to practice and practice and practice everyday.. Practice and concentrate on one song and when you nailed it, go for another song and the best is every songs you learn to sing has different style and different way of singing, also listened a lot to the original singer before you sing that song, listen well to how they sing them...know the lyrics super well will help too....
I don't remember where I got the icon on my avatar, so if I have to credit it, please let me know.

but how do you know if you're singing with falsetto or not?
I seem to be doing it unconsciously....
A falsetto is also known as a 'second voice' or 'fake voice' or in the singing terminology 'unnatural tone'. A falsetto is not meant to be used for singing a full song or most part of a song. It is used for parts of a song to give off a different effect.
A common error that many people do is, sing in falsetto. Why? Because, when they sing in falsetto subconciously they feel and think that they are reaching the high keys that they hear from other singers but reality-wise: they're not.
You could've asked us in your thread...lol. The easiest way to tell is to talk normally and be conscious of how you sound. Now sing the catchy chorus of the song by B.E.G do you notice the difference?

Yeah haha. I just figured that this way other people could see the answer...since this thread is about singing anyways, and it would be most logical to look here.

I recently got a new computer and it's a Mac. I had a Windows before and I used three programs. I used Adobe Audition, Goldwave, and Audacity. I used Audition the most since it was my favorite and such an amazing program. And I rarely used Audacity since it is very limited and I'm not too fond of the setup. I nearly died when I got the new computer because I found out that Adobe Audition and Goldwave are both not for Mac, so I'm stuck with Audacity. x_X I was wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of a program that is similar to Goldwave or Adobe Audition that I could use for my mixing, rather than Audacity.
Also, I've noticed that when I'm mixing, my voice and the instrumental often don't seem to blend very well. I don't know, they just seem kind of...far...if you know what I mean. o_O I'm not sure if it's my microphone or something, but I was wondering what types of filters I could use to try to blend my voice with the instrumental better so that the final product sounds more professional.

working with what you have, to nudge closer to that professional sound, you have to play around with the equalizer and compressor on your vocal tracks(every professional mix is equalized and compressed) . The techniques of equalizing and compressing frequencies and getting the ears to hear what sounds good or not takes months, or even years, to really understand and there are good articles out there for people to start. Or you could just pay a mixing engineer to do it for you lol.

it should come out naturally without feeling it much in your stomach/diaphragm or throat..there are different types of vibratos. False vibrato is when you're pulsing the abdominal muscles which you don't need too, if you feel that your larynx is tense with vibrato that means that you're using it too much making it hyper active. IT should be a combined action of breathing muscles and diaphragm as well as airflow and other stuff..IN OTHER TERMS it should feel like you're ringing the sound rather than forcing the vibrato it should come out naturally

practice? find a good voice teacher to help you practice these things, because head voice takes time to learn, there's the process of knowing how to breath right, posture, jaws, tongues, and singing in a "straight" line you could say when going high or low. So ya practice and practice, if not find a good voice teacher to help you sing in your head voice..

don't belt..instead practice, make your voice stronger, have the right breathing and singing technique..these type of singers were trained for years in order to do that so it doesn't come all at once.
