My computer used to be able to play instrumental and record itself through audacity without a mic needed, now whenever I sing, I have to record my instrumental and sing at the same time...
meaning i have to turn this junk all the WAY UP so my mic can hear.

help?

than go to sounds & audio devices
than go to audio & look for sound recording..make sure its seleted that u usually record by...(e.g. mine would be logitech microphone)
than go voice...than find voice recording & make sure it is where u wanted it to be..(e.g. mine would be realtek HD audio input)
than once u done...hit apply...
i really hope it helps u..if it doesnt than idk...ill see whats the problem is..

I always have this problem, I sing good when I'm singing along with the singers because when they sing I can see how the vocals is and sing along but when I sing insturmental my voice feels like it's gonna crack and I can't even hit notes like I can with the singer singing along. Can someone tell me why my voice is like this?

^ i think its because whenu sing with the singer u know the notes & if u make a mistake u wont hear it or know it...[this happens to me sometimes wheni sing with the singer]..when u sing the instrumental version of it ur singing voice is the actual voice of urs...& personally i think its better this way b/c then u know ur voice & u can practice more in becoming better at singing like going into higher notes or whatever it is...

I practice alot with the singer singing and I was able to improve alot such as reach high notes along with them but when it's just instrumental my voice feels nude and I crack in the simplelist song.

^ hm..well idk how to explain it but im thinking that cuz when u sing with the acutal singer there is another voice singing with you but when u sing the instrumental there is only u..& when u sing with the acutal singer u can reach the high noted cuz the singer did it with u..but when u do the instru. version its likea test to test out ur singing voice on whether u can do it by urself or not..if u can than thats really good cause it should that u can sing independently but if u cant than u need help..am i making sense?
anyways i believe singing by urself with out the actual singer is like a test..
lets say u were gonna audition for a company..there is no way they are gonna let u sing with the singer cuz than it will be like copying..but if u sing by urself without the singer than it shows ur potential in singing...

i have this issue, when i sing in real life its sounds good, but when i record it its sounds horrible.
is there a reason for this?

also, what are some good microphones, i have a high voice and i wanted a mic. that can actually
pick up what i am singing, also what kind of program I should use to record myself singing.
I just used the sound recorder on my computer, but of course that always doesn't work.
Also, when i play the music and record all i get the music and its static any one knows why?

^ it's mainly your microphone and/or soundcard. the better microphone/soundcard you get, the higher quality and more professional sounding your inputs will be. and u can use audacity because it's free, and it's better than windows sound recorder. how good it will be depends on how much money of course u are willing to spend.

^usually u use more than one mic to achieve stereo effects and place the mics in different positions so it can capture the sounds in different locations. what do u want to record in stereo?

it's more likely the program you are using to record and the settings it has. you should be able to hear sounds in both channels/speakers regardless if it's mono or stereo. the difference between mono and stereo is that in mono, the same exact sound and its same characteristics are coming out of both speakers; while in stereo, two different qualities could be coming out of the left and right speakers. also, maybe you panned a track to play only the left channel? but u should be able to hear both speakers in mono.

i used the program that samson mic came with.. umm forgot the name.. i didn't change anything and the pan thingy is centered

when i was using audacity the it's still centre panned but if i record in stereo i would still get big left channel and minimal right channel

wenjjang - can u give me an example; i don't fully understand the problem.

5imply_5wt - i think i figured out your problem. that samson is a condenser mic. i'm guessing your logitech was not? well, anyways, you should record in mono and i think that will solve the problem. your soundcard probably does not have inputs separate for left and right channels; so when u connect your mic, the default would always be the left channel. so when u record in stereo, you are ultimately recording in the left channel. if u record in mono, both left and right channels automatically share the same sound. if u wanted to record in true stereo, u would need to get two mics, and connect one mic to the left channel input and one mic to the right channel input and record from there.
