This is sort of an urgent question.
Does anyone know how to change the pitch of a song (in this case an instrumental to a lower pitch) and export without lowering the Bit Rate of the audio file???
I use Audacity so if you can please help accordingly, unless there's a program you can recommend which you KNOW would do the job =]

Thank you very much in advance

Adobe Audition does this. Cooledit Pro too (they're the same program anyways). If it's that urgent, you can tell me how many semitones you want to transpose your song by, and send me the mp3 and I can send it back immediately to you.

i need to improve my singing in a few months (4-5???) as i might have some performance, and i have nowhere to ask for help.

i'm a girl and i have this extremely low voice.
it's sorta a little higher than yoobin's.

also i dont know what my range is. the songs i always sing seem too high for me (unless i sing nasally, which i dont want to). sad.gif

when i sing, i can go really really low. but i can go quite high (using falsetto) too.
however, i can't sing high notes using my chest voice. AT ALL.
unless i sing nasally.

and i don't want to sing nasally.
but when i sing songs that need to be sung high using chest (or middle??) voice, i'd automatically become nasally.
i guess it's because BoA was my idol when i was young and i can imitate her voice already. (and actually, that's exactly how i sing before i realised that it was wrong and decided to change it. but i'm still quite used to it and am trying to change really hard. tongue.gif )

people say that i have a mature voice.
and everytime i sing, my voice sounds mature to me and the people hearing it.
but when i record it, it suddenly turns cutesy and kiddish.

ohyeah. sometimes when i sing, my throat feels sore. but i'm breathing with the diaphragm (the stomach expands, right?). and i don't understand what im doing wrong. i heard that your larynx should not move up when you sing, but mine does, a little. it doesnt only when im talking. hmm..

also, how do you sing in a strong voice?
my voice is really weak, and im still practicing breathing with the diaphragm.
oh yeah, i dont really understand what a middle voice is.
and how vibrato comes naturally.
i dont have vibrato, but im hoping that i'll come soon tongue.gif

please help! thanks a bunch biggrin.gif (sorry for the millions of questions)

Sometimes you need to keep the nasality in the higher notes as it naturally occurs from the twang. After a while, this nasality will continue to dissapear as your voice becomes more balance

Yup, your stomach bloats out, the organ behind your stomach pushes out the stomach area as you continue to support higher notes. For some it's natural, for some it is manual.

Vibrato occurs when your vocals are free. Middle voice is referred to the technique where you mix both the chest and headvoice into one, where it makes you sound like you're singing a continuation of your chest voice all the way up. The technique relies on bringing the loose falsetto vocal folds together to allow maximum efficiency in sound production because every amount of air pressure applied is converted into a sound and not lost compared to, falsetto.

Larynx is allowed to move up slightly. It does not need to be locked to one position, but it should be stable and not rise completely, or drop completely.

Hope these answers partially/completely/kinda answered your questions.

Two strips of muscle, in the shape of your eye folds that come together (close) or go apart (open) to create voice by vibrating with the air pressure applied to them, ie speaking/singing.

No need to thank, we're all here to share our knowledge, whether it'd be right or wrong.

OK sorry if this question is repeated, because this thread is a little messy (no offence) with people asking mixed questions about recording & singing all over the place. I've only read through the first & last few pages and seen the list of singing/recording tips & advice but none seems to answer what I have in mind.

So my question is.. how do I sing with a head voice? Or a middle voice?

Sorry if this sounds really stupid cos I only *just* realised I haven't been singing properly.. mostly just singing with a throat voice at KTVs and then getting a sore throat the next day. I'm new to this but I do like singing so I'd like to be able to improve/train my voice a little so that I don't damage my vocal cords when I sing.

I've heard about the head voice resounding through the skull and being "big" and high yet not hard on the vocal cords. First thing I thought was.. wow that sounds good, cos all along my voice has been strained while trying to hit high notes.

For middle voice, I read that the voice has to connect between chest voice and head voice.. like in the middle? Huh?

If someone could explain all that to me I'd be eternally thankful.. and perhaps suggest videos/articles that will help in explanation?
For reference, I can sing SNSD's Into The New World comfortably (well a little strain on the higher notes), with the exception of the bridge + Taeyeon and Jessica's high notes. Seohyun's notes I can hit with a little strain. I'm also not sure what kind of voice I have though I'm definitely not a soprano. Can't hit some of BoA/Taeyeon's high notes, lol.

Thanks for reading my little rant, and thanks in advance for tips that any of you have. ^^

Ok so I've got a couple of questions...
does anyone know any good, not-too-prof. mic to use?
'Cuz you see, the thing with mine is, it makes me sound ten pitches lower T_T sometimes that gets helpful 'cuz I'm not that good at hitting the low notes tongue.gif
but then there's this other thing...it might sound like a health and fitness question, but oh well XD
I can sing REALLY HIGH. Like I can hit allll of the high notes. but there's only thing....does anyone how to avoid getting colds and sore throats? >____> 'cuz the thing is i've got really weak immunity so I get sick from even the slightest changes in weather and/or viruses etc... So that way, my voice ALWAYS has to crack when I hit the high notes. It's really annoying 'cuz I'm not a low-pitched singer and I can't even hit high notes anymore T________________T
will ask this question in health&fitness too of course 'cuz it's such a huge problem for me.
and thank you ^0^

well the first thing is how much you want to spend...after that its just you personally going out to test each of the mics...cause all mics are not made the same...thats why each sound different. and i know its weird to go out to the nearest music store and sing into the mics, but thats really the best way to choose the right one for you. You have to make sure you get the one that you think makes you sound the best

^ You'll need a fair bit of compression to even out the volumes. Use minimum reverb just so it doesn't sound dry on the track. That's all I do =x

I'll help Google it up for you guys tomorrow night LOL.

For now, if you're really in an emergency to get your instru transposed down/up, send me the mp3 and I'll reply in 24 hours time ('cos I have work all day tomorrow, so I won't be on until this time again). Tell me how much semitones you want it transposed by.

In AUDACITY it's under the EFFECT menu, and select CHANGE PITCH. Specify the pitch you want there and click OK/ACCEPT.

could someone reccomend me a good microphone to record singing? I don't want to spend more than 40-50 USD.

I don't need something too professional, I'd just like something that filters a bit of the background noise.

^ LOL I only sound close to "manly" when I sing pretty low. I sound like Chris Brown and Rihanna's baby when I sing any higher. Oh well. lol

don't sing from your throat . i noticed that you do that a lot; hence the really unstable vibrato.
sing from your stomach =P
