hamuja - 5imply_5wt would be able to help you since she has whistle range. And C7/G7 is very high! That's the last octave on the piano! Nice stuff biggrin.gif

D4 is your lowest note? Surely you got the number wrong. C4 is middle C, A4 is the A above middle C at 440Hz. You probably mean D2 if you're a guy. D2 sounds right. What else do you want LOL. You can't improve your range DOWNWARDS but you can upwards. Why would you want to sing lower anyways?!?!

I'm... a girl o.o;
*points to display picture* D:

Anyways, I would LOVE to be able to get down to middle C if possible D:
People always ask me why my voice is so high, like it's a bad thing or something u_u;

Umm..I use Audacity to record stuff...and I got some pretty good deals on Amazon. just look for 'microphone recorder" or something and you get some pretty good deals under 100!

What is the difference between range and pitch? My choir teacher labeled me as a Tenor, but when I sing along to TVXQ's song, I could barely hit their notes which got me worried. When I sing Rascal Flatts' song, I'm in my comfortable range, where I don't feel pain in my voice. Why is that I can sing along to Rascal Flatts' songs and not TVXQ's?

Hi guys! Just a question. I like to sing for fun a lot. You know, showers, when I'm alone in my room, in the car, etc.. haha. Well, lately I've been actually trying to SING sing. With my voice loud, clear, and whatnot.. I've never had any training, nor do I know anything about singing properly besides what I read online. Anyway, after I sing for like 15 minutes, my throat starts to become sore a bit. This always happens. My voice sounds like its still fine though, singing and talking.

can anyone tell me why?

You're singing with your throat. If you start singing loudly without proper technique and support, you'll get sore. I had this problem when I yelled more than singing first starting off. If the resonance is based in your throat you'll feel hoarse quickly.

But then again you could be getting used to dynamic volumes. It's a problem if you are continuously sore throughout the session though. Upload a clip or something as an example. It will help other users help diagnose your problem.

I got the CO1U recently and I noticed that it adds this... raspiness (?) to my voice. I dunno if it's from the mic, or if I actually sound like that.... b/c I had been using a crappy dynamic mic in the past. It's still there even when I use noise removal o_0

^ mind uploading a clip? sometimes it might be your room resonance? i had that problem with my co1u before, i think it was due to the fact that i set my input volume really high.

Go to volume control for the voice input volume or mic gain and set it very low (1-3notch) and sing closer to the mic (within 8 inches).

Your problem is that you could be distorting or clipping.

This could be because when you record on dynamic mics you tend to record close to your microphone for it to capture a full sound. On the other hand, USB condensers have a cardioid pattern that seems to be a lot more sensitive because of it's capsule. Make sure you are singing at least 6-8 inches away from the microphone. I recommend you get a mic stand as well.

Once again, anyone using the Samson C01U I really recommend on downloading it's digital preamplifier, The SoftPre: http://www.samsontech.com/main/misc.cfm?pageID=45
It allows you to adjust the Gain (Volume) of the Microphone and if you guys know anything about EQ, it could cut out the low frequencies as well. Plus this is better than adjusting your volume with Windows built-in mixer. (Mac is better~!)

If your recordings still turn out to be raspy, it could be just the mic itself. Samson mics are tend to be a little hissy on it's side because their frequency response patterns are as similar as the infamous Neumann U87.

But if the problem continues then please let me know, I've had the Samson C01U for almost 3 years then I gave it away for my new baby <3.

I can only help you about the range and pitch question. Your range is all the notes that you can hit, from the lowest to the highest. Usually, you can count those notes by octaves. For example, I can sing from the E flat under the middle C (sorry I don't know the numbers) to three E flats over the middle C. That makes a 3 octaves range.

For pitch, it is if you "hit" the note properly, meaning that if someone plays a C middle on the piano, you can sing at exactly the same frequency as that C middle with your voice, not higher, not lower. Some people have difficulty singing the right frequency when they are not singing with an instrument (a cappella) For example, someone sings almost a C flat instead of a "real' C when they sing without instrument, so this person is not on pitch at that time.

Was that too complicated? xD I hope you understood something out of it... If anyone has a clearer explanation, please do share your definitions to help!

Hello Everyone, I'm a freshman to this site/forum and I would like to sing (desperately =.=)
I'm beginning to try and start singing and I have researched other website and there were
no use...
I read the 'List of Singing and Recording Tips/Advices' already and could not
understand on how to do it. I also heard from a certain person that singing lessons didn't
work for her but the tips on this forums did help her quite well^.^

I'm a guy that would like to sing, I would appreciate it if there is something you can help me
out with singing.
Thank you <3

You'd have to be able to take it apart. Split the track into a beat, a tune, and an acapella. Otherwise it'll just get really messy.
I give up on 411's.

He meant that he wants to monitor his recordings with Auto-Tune on.

Unfortunately ppledeezdays unless you have a beast-like studio setup, software monitoring will have very noticeable latency issues. Which means, you are going to hear yourself about two-three seconds after you say something.. that's really bad hahahah.

Because Auto-tune is VST, it is a software bounded onto your DAW (whatever program you use to record). It is not possible to hear yourself unless you turn on software monitoring.
That being said, you can spend about $700 on getting an external pitch-correcting hardware, but you wouldn't like to spend that much money hahaha.

The best way to test yourself with Auto-tune is just record it and turn-on autotune and listen to it. Honestly for me, even with the monitoring capability, autotune messes things up since it corrects my pitch on the spot so I usually don't have a clue what my pitch is.

Hey everyone. I recently just got into singing and to be honest, I think I sound bad. I've scheduled myself some singing lessons but I'm scared I'm completely hopeless. I was planning on auditioning for JYPE through email/mail when my singing(hopefully) improves but now there's going to be a live audition near my area on Oct 31 and I'm planning on going.

At the moment I've been practicing some singing exercises I found off youtube like lip trills along with trying to sing a few songs, but still no improvement. Since I don't have a lot of knowledge when it comes to singing, do you guys think that a beginner like me could sing decently by the end of the month? I'm not asking for amazing or impressive. I'm wondering if with the right amount of practice and hard work, could I sing pleasantly and not make people's ears bleed in a few weeks?

Maybe...if you practice properly and 10 hours a day. Practice and dedication can turn eumchis into singers...but it takes time. The worse you are initially, the longer it'll take to get to a "decent" level.
