What is the difference between range and pitch? My choir teacher labeled me as a Tenor, but when I sing along to TVXQ's song, I could barely hit their notes which got me worried. When I sing Rascal Flatts' song, I'm in my comfortable range, where I don't feel pain in my voice. Why is that I can sing along to Rascal Flatts' songs and not TVXQ's?
I can only help you about the range and pitch question. Your range is all the notes that you can hit, from the lowest to the highest. Usually, you can count those notes by octaves. For example, I can sing from the E flat under the middle C (sorry I don't know the numbers) to three E flats over the middle C. That makes a 3 octaves range.
For pitch, it is if you "hit" the note properly, meaning that if someone plays a C middle on the piano, you can sing at exactly the same frequency as that C middle with your voice, not higher, not lower. Some people have difficulty singing the right frequency when they are not singing with an instrument (a cappella) For example, someone sings almost a C flat instead of a "real' C when they sing without instrument, so this person is not on pitch at that time.
Was that too complicated? xD I hope you understood something out of it... If anyone has a clearer explanation, please do share your definitions to help!
