she already met some korean friends and native koreans and stuff..
and she said they are really nice.
i don't think its totally true, that they exclude twinkies cuz my cousin doesn't korean well..
but shes totally having a great time so far.
its freaking expensive to study & stay in dorm at yonsei though.
my uncle paid like 12,000 for my cousin to go there.
its hella crazy.

but one of the requirements for studying in SNU was the results of the TOEFL. It said you should take it if English isn't your native language... but what if you came to America at a young age and spoke English fluently? I learned Korean first since I was born there, but I can speak English better than Korean.
..I need to know whether I have to take the test or not because SNU changed the application deadline to late July instead of September.

many of you guys are asking VERY specific questions which cannot be answered here.
talk to the study abroad office of your university and get as much info as possible and THEN try soompi for other questions (what's the climate like, what's fun there, etc).
i didn't go to UC, others who did go to yonsei for study abroad didn't go through UC...UC isn't the only school that does exchange with korean universities.
if you are NOT in college then study abroad is something you probably can't do, OR it'll be expensive.
again, most ppl on this page probably don't know about that so it's best to ask at a university.
while korea university, yonsei, ehwa, etc are all top universities in korea, koreans aren't going to be blown away at your month and a half in the study abroad program. why? because getting into the study abroad program is EASY.
if you are checking out the english pages of the korean universities make sure you are looking at the page for STUDY ABROAD. and make sure that they are talking about US/CANADIAN citizens.
something like TOEFL is not required of american citizens.
just please remember that very specific questions like "how much does it cost if i'm in UC?" are things you should ask at your study abroad office...

Is the regular korean language program (KLI) a credit or just something you take for fun?
Do they mark you and check attendance? -- I saw it in kyung hee univ. website but what's the purpose other than not wasting your money??
*Sorry for so much questions
---
I'm asking things about different universities because i'm also thinking about the $$$ other than the standard...Plus, the dorming and buddy system...
i'm planning to go after high-school for either summer program or regular (1 term)...
----
In Korea Univ., I can't stay at the international house if I take regular class but in Kyung Hee Univ. I can... and both have buddy system....so yeah...
-------
Thanks in advance for answering my questions

i have a couple questions...
1) im entering college this year in sept of 07 as a freshman and i wanted to go study abroad the summer of 08... its possible right? its not only for second year people?
2) How much free time do you actually have? i mean i love learning but im kind of going to korea with the excuse that im studying [ which i really am] but i want to go see stuff and have fun too? Its because my parents wont let me go if i dont have a purpose. plus... i dont have anyone i know there so they'll oppose it more... lol
3) What is the most live city in Korea? [like most people, most interactive, not country like and lots of things going around and happening] like is it Seoul? since thats the capital of South Korea right?
dude... if i get to go... i just dont want food poisoning... =[ or if your not use to the food and it just doesnt mix with your body... =]
well sounds so much fun...i really want to go when im still in my 1st years in college because i tihnk by junior year... im going to focus more on my major.

s1xt1n : I think Kyung Hee's a good choice, my friend said that learning there is not as stressful as in other "top universities" (like KAIST,SNU,..) and the price of areas around is surprisingly cheap xD
