Hey Guys..I'm looking for a new camera.. I can't decide between teh two. one (sony) is pretty (if you can't tell ...i'm a girl) and compact the other is a canon which apparently is a better camrera..which one would you get?

I would definately go with the Canon Powershot sd1000. It has gotten great reviews and is actually a popular camera. I have a Canon Powershot sd750 which is not that much different from the sd1000 except for the 3.0" lcd screen. The quality of photos is amazing , especially the macro mode. Functionality is great and is pretty user friendly. Id definately recommend it.

i would get the canon because im a guy who's into photography, i weigh the performance and quality much heavier than looks. but based on what you said in your post.. i think you should choose the sony one because obviously you love how it looks much more than the canon camera and i dont think the quality difference will be enough to make you dislike the sony camera. plus, if you like how it looks, you tend to use the camera more in social occasions which is better than getting a camera but leaving it behind often because you dont want to pull it out.

I just decided to place an order for the Canon SD1000 on Amazon. I actually think the silver one is pretty, so I bought it. My situation was I wanted more megapixels, so I was going to get a different brand, but people convinced me that Canon is higher in quality so I decided to get it instead with less megapixels. =) I can't give you a full review because it hasn't arrived yet

I would definitely go for the Canon because the Sony Cybershot isn't that good. Plus, Canons are one of the best brand of cameras around. And my cousin just recently bought one and she says it takes really nice pictures. I also have one but it's more bulky. lol
