So I've been assigned an essay on ANY TOPIC I WANT. So I picked the Hallyu wave. Not so hard right?
... No actually it kinda is, when youre brain-pooped =.="" lol anways, can I get some help?

So I need some people to answer these questions:

1. In your opinion, is the hallyu a good thing , or a bad thing?

2. Why you think it would be important to write about (i know I'm supposed to do that part but.... )

lol this is what I have so far for my prospectus...

QUOTE
I am very excited to finally have a chance to discuss the topic I have chosen in a proper and formal matter. I understand that the purpose of this is essay is to obtaining information by questions. My essay will be about the recent “Korean Wave”, or also nicknamed “Hallyu.” Hallyu refers to the increasing popularity of South Korean pop culture in many different countries, especially so in Asian countries. Despite its popularity, there are many positive, neutral and negative views on this topic. Because of the varying viewpoints, I would like to discuss the effects of this Korean wave on other countries and understand the opinions on this new sensation.

1. I think Hallyu is a good thing. For one Korea is a democracy (while it is sadly a flawed one at best....) but like how America's soft power penetrated through soft power of democracy, I hope Korea's influence of "democracy" can spread to countries like China and Vietnam, and the Middle Eastern countries that are starting to recieve the trickles of hallyu, to reform their undemocratic ways. I also believe it's a good thing because it helps reduce bigotry in Korea. Think about it this way.

Bi for example has many fans (particularly in Japan and SE Asia, where Koreans usually have a strong prejudice), Bi goes to all these places and he has screaming fans there also, he talks (whether or not it's genuine or not) how much he loves Japan/SE Asia, and how much he's honored the people are there. The younger generation (which already is a lot less racist than their parents) will take a lot of influence from this, and see some conformity that is comfortable within Asian cultures and start to take a liking towards these foreign fans.

2. You could maybe talk about the backlash. There is some stupid Japanese manga that's like "Hating the Korean Wave" and it's fairly corrupted... XD... but it's pretty popular in Japan...

You could talk about a certain country and what happened after hallyu. Maybe a country like Vietnam would be interesting to see.

WOW! Thanks, I'll be using some of your quotes in my essay since most of it will likely be opinion based, since I can't find any "scholarly books"

But does anyone know where I can find and/or get books relating to the hallyu? Other than that japanese book?
I need some opposing sides ... Please help TT____TT

Look up Hallyu on wikpedia.

Check the links on that webpage.
