update

Okay, so I started about 2 weeks ago on a diet & exercise to slim down. :] The good news is that so far, I lost 13 pounds ish. The bad news... I'm worried about my calves and thighs... -____-;; I've been doing 700-1000 jump rope every day along with some abdominal exercise, and just realized how muscular my legs were getting... eww... so anyone know how to try and not get your calves so bulky? Also, I'm worried that if I lose too much weight too quickly I'll get like that extra skin you see ppl get when they lose like 50 pounds or a lot of fat, anyways. Is there anything I should be careful of on my 'slimming down journey' to make sure I don't become like those people with a lot of extra skin and end up having to have it surgically removed... ugh.

Thanx so much for any advice! biggrin.gif

13 pounds in 2 weeks? crazy.gif that's unhealthy, you'll get stretch marks from losing so fast.
you're supposed to lose 1-2lbs a week for it to be healthy.
and as for toning down... try more stretches and ^yoga.

dang it girl. that some intense diet. i gotta give u props for losing 13 pounds in 2 weeks. i'm jealous. it took like 2 months to just lose 2 pound and keep it like that. hahaha. >.<

but like the above person has said. dropping weight that quick aint healthy. i hope you're eating healthy

anywas. i have the same problem. i noticed my legs looks more defined when i work out. hopefully it won't look bulky. i guess. try not to work out so intensively. try doing something lighter like walking more often? or biking perhaps.

wahhh! lots of responses! :]

I am already doing yoga and some stretches. I go to the gym every night and work out for 40 min. on top of the jump roping and such. I'm eating healthy! It's just I'm not exactly very thin, so the weights coming off easier than if I was like 120 (also keep in mind I'm almost 5'10" in height...)or something you know? Um, for ppl who want to know how i'm dieting & exercising...

-After light stretching I do jump ropes in the morning.
-Right after jump roping I do abdominal exercises (crunches, reverse crunches, etc.)
-I eat a moderate portion of rice for breakfast.
-For lunch I eat a yogurt and a little bit of fruit.
-And I eat dinner between 3-5 p.m. and don't eat anything after that. I usually have some tofu w/ Kimchee, a sweet potato, or anything I have at my house as long as it's in a small portion and is mainly low fat.
-I go to Lifetime Fitness and do the cross training machine for 20 min. and then do the stair master for 20 min.
-When I get home, I do yoga for 25 min. and stretch a bit more.

Phew... the reason for my desperateness for weight loss is because I'm going to Korea in the summer and I need to get in shape... ^^;; But for eating, I eat at least 1200+ calories everyday and drink 6 bottles of water, too... so I'm not starving myself or anything.

Thanx for your advice!

Maybe you should do some strength training along with cardio. I'm not sure why, but people always recommend doing strength training along with cardio. I think once you lose the fat from cardio, you need strength training to build muscles or you'll be all flabby(?).

I think that only happens to obese people who lose a substantial amount of weight. If you're aiming for 50 lbs or less, I don't think you need to worry about it.

Also, it's really better to lose weight slower. I know it sucks waiting, but it's worth it. If you lose a lot real faster it's MUCH easier to gain it back quickly.
There was nothing to fear,

I htink this topic is just to flaunt how much you lost and have people compliment you (very unattractive to do that kind of thing).

I think everyone knows how to lose weight.............
If you don't want extra skin then don't lose weight.
