반신욕 means half-bath.
You fill bathtub with very hot water but only high enough so if you sit down in it,it will only reach your belly button area.
And then you sit in it for as long as you can (try for 40 minute at least) but you can't get the upper part wet and must keep hands and top part dry.
The temperature difference between top and bottom parts of body make you sweat a LOT and afterward, you feel exhausted like you ran on treadmill.
Be careful when you do it and drink cold water after and get up carefully because you can faint..
you have to eat very healthy when you are doing this bath everyday to lose weight ^^
It is very popular in Korea and they even have spas and different products to put over the tub so you can do other stuff while bathing.
Someone even made a ban sin yohk tub with a computer above it ^^

What it looks like~

And for Ahyoomee's diet:
link= empas news
It's said that "Cutie Honey" solo from group Sugar, Ahyoomee lost 8kg from ban sin yohk diet.
During interview with Star News, Ahyoomee said "I did ban sin yohk everyday for 30 minuts for a month and lost a lot of weight, and the difference between when I was biggest is about 8kg loss."
......
Ahyoomee said "Ban sin yohk is good for you blood circulation, and your skin too. It helps alot with stress too."
Also: "I didn't do any special exercise but I still had dance practice and lost weight in my boobs and lost a lot of flab"...

Other than Ahyoomee, other people are
Supermodel Jo So Hyun empas blog
Lee Hyori uses it with in-line skating empas cafe & newsen.co.kr
Honey Lee (Miss Korea) yahoo.co.kr news
Lee Bo Young uses for her skin newsen.co.kr
and if you go to this site = Han Hye Jin (from Ju Mong), talent Park Jung Su used it for her skin,
Bi (Rain) uses ban sin yohk for dieting and voice practice
a couple of years ago, Bi said he had "ban sin yohk mania" --> article

ALL THE ANNOYING PEOPLE WHO SAY IT IS A "FAD"
Just be quiet and keep it to yourself.
Yes I am sure you know everything about the universe.
But if you are Korean or Japanese, you probably heard of this before as method to cleanse your system.. If you detoxify, your metabolism will be more efficient because doesn't need to work so hard on absorbing nutrients, etc. because of dirty kidney/colon/etc.
SITTING IN A BATHTUB IS NOT A "DIET". That is why it's suggested you eat healthily and do this bathing at the same time to lose weight.
It also says Ahyoomee danced while she did it.
While dance practice might not seem like a lot, she is an entertainer, so she probably dance 5+ hours/day

I'm sorry but this is a joke. Losing weight by soaking in a hot tub LOL...

God forbid exercising.

How is it a fad?
Ban sin yohk has been around from before we were all born.
It's mainly use for poor blood circulation but it does to help lose weight.

^ I agree..
It forces you to sweat all that water weight out.
I don't think I'd be able to handle the heat though, hahah.

Thanks for sharing~

Actually, this is pretty similar to bath house/hot springs/sauna detox methods.

"The contrast between hot and cold water increases microcirculation through body tissues, promotes detoxification, and strengthens the immune system. This helps bring nutrients, oxygen and immune cells to damaged and stressed tissues and carries away metabolic waste, inflammatory by-products and other toxic substances. Contrast showers also strengthen the immune system by increasing the number of white blood cells."

I'd like to try this. Although not to lose weight, just for the other health benefits.

Is there like a certain temperature the water has to be? I usually take a bath with uber hot water and it gets cold fast.
