Can anyone tell me how to make Korean Fried Rice? In lots of Korean dramas the people in it just have rice, pour a lot of stuff in it and eat it up -- no cooking or anything and I wanna try it out. Any help would be nice!

&&does anyone have a recipe for baked zitit? I'm a cooking noob :x My brother's the cook but his "pasta" isn't his best.
&&does anyone know where I can buy a bento box in NYC?
&I'm not sure if we're allowed to request, please tell me if I'm doing something wrong; couldn't find the rules on this section

This may sound stupid, but, what exactly is kimchi and where do you buy it? :x

for the korean fried rice, are you talking about bibimbap (basically rice with a bunch of vegetables and sauce, not fried)?
if it is, it's pretty easy to make, in fact, i just made some for lunch ;].

-rice
-various veggies (such as kongnammul, she geum chi, namool, etc...i only know the korean words for the veggies...but basically what you see in the dramas)
-red pepper paste (the spicy thing/sauce you put in)
-teaspoon of sesame oil
-sometimes people put a fried egg on top.
MIX! anyways, it's more fun if you eat it with a lot of people and mix it in one huge bowl. lmao xD.
usually, people in dramas eat it at night and sometimes as a stress reliever. lol ;].

editt//sorry 0__-;;
i was eating pat bingsoo when i was writing this...lol xD.

^you can

um...bento boxes in NYC? Go to any asian supermarket. Chinatown has various supermarkets and stores that sell those.

Baked ziti....I simply boil pasta, drain it, mix in pasta sauce and mozzarella cheese, dump it in a baking pan, put more mozzarella cheese on top, cover in tin foil and bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 min or so. Then take off the tin foil and bake for another 10 min.

here's a recipe: http://www.kraftfoods.com/recipes/PorkBeef.../BakedZiti.html

For the bento boxes, I'm looking for the really cute ones like the two-tier with designs. I went to a lot of Chinese supermarkets and they don't have any. I'm planning on going to a Korean supermarket later this month, but, I'm not sure if they'll have it =\. &&thanks for the recipe!

If you find kochujang, I would add some sesame oil & seeds, vinegar, and sugar to the kochujang before you add it to the mix of veggies. And I think it tastes better if you eat it out of a giant metal bowl.

kimchi fried rice

Ingredients
-one serving amount of rice
- vegetable oil
- sesame seed oil
- red chili pepper paste
- spam or samgyupsal (pork)
- kimchi

1. Heat the pan to medium high. Then spread some vegetable oil on it.
2. Chop up the kimchi and spam or samgyupssal into small chunks. Place both kimchi & the meat in the heated pan.
3. Cook the kimchi and meat. Stir it around a bit and make sure the meat is cooked thoroughly.
4. Once the meat is cooked, add the rice. Stir and fry and make sure the that there's no whiteness of the rice left and that the rice turns into a spicy color.
5. Add a teaspoon of red chili pepper paste and sesame seed oil and mix with the fried rice for added flavor.
6. It's optional but you can fry an egg and put it on top of the kimchi fried rice. It tastes super good tongue.gif

that's how I cook my kimchi fried rice. I don't use any specific measurements but make sure you have more kimchi than the rice. so that way you won't end up with rice that has very little kimchi taste ^^ and make sure you add some vegetable oil once in awhile so that the rice won't burn and stick to the pan. otherwise the recipe is super easy so I hope that helps!

actually kim chee is a type of food. all pickles, they are usually pickled with salt, and dried red pepper flakes. it is then left to ferment at least a week in the fridge, and eaten sliced up. the fried rice dish you're talking about isn't actually fried. it's mixed. usually rice, various vegetables, (mut chim), spicy pepper paste and a dollop of sesame seed oil. you can buy the vegetables in your local korean mart. oh yeah, if you'd like, you can add a fried egg to the dish. make sure that the egg isn't completely cooked, but sunny side up.
