So i "acquired" a copy of Bioshock for the PC. I don't have a super high end computer but it still worked fine for me - i was actually a bit surprised. Seems like the storyline is your 'typical science project gone bad' type senario but that's pretty much where the comparison ends. The setting, and graphics are amazing! It's so good it's almost scary. The texturing of the different types of material and the water effects are brilliant. Destructible environments, and the ability to move and bash anything you see is great. I thought i'd get lost and frustrated but the availability of health and ammo and map has made transitioning into different areas pretty flawless. All in all, a good bit of entertainment!

My system specs:
Sony VAIO Desktop
Intel P4, 3.0 Ghz
1.5 GB RAM
ATI Radeon x1650 Pro 512 MB DDR2 (AGP 8x)

Yeah I've been playing it on PC and I agree it's a good game, but very overrated.

wait a tic, now after thinking about it, wat has bioshock done that is so different? apart from a nice art style and good gfx, the physics are still no better than Half Life 2, enemy AI is lame and the game is linear. i'm surprised it scored so high everywhere, guess american gamers dig hyped fps games.

Oh man~ I loved this game. As a fps, it was pretty decent. What I loved about the game was the storyline. I just really enjoyed playing the game trying to figure out what happened to this "used to be utopian city of Rapture". Probably the best fictional storyline from any other shooters I played.

This game has got to be one of my favorite story driven FPS in a long time. I admit that the game starts off slow but picks up quite nicely later on. Those who've played the game might be interested to take a look at this blog, awesome choice for costumes btw.

Game is too linear and quite boring.

Just as bad as Crysis.

Spike VGAs are not a credible source for anything. It might as well have been on the cover of some tabloid.

^resonate are u like me and find most fps single player games weak??? crysis is another piece of crap, i played the demo (its run like shithouse on 7900gt), nothing special, same crap, nothing good about the AI or revolutionary about the physics.

if some of you played bioshock and taught it was linear, stop playing bioshock like if it were a normal fps, you have to explore. You have to look at everything, read, hear everything, don't just mindlessly shoot.

^but wats the point of exploring an empty room? plus the stupid splicers respawn and i don't want to waste ammo, especially near the end of the game where guns do crap all dmg. for example, i'm not the type of gamer to use a different weapon to kill an enemy if i find a combo of 2 weapons works. i'll use it all the time until it doesn't work. a good game designer will force the player to use something different. Bioshock fails at this, the electric plasmid and shotgun/wrench makes all other weapons or plasmids pointless.

Did u atleast experiement with the other weapons? plus u have to take in the enviroment and the whole aspect of the game, and not just play it for mindless shooting. online fps is for mindless shooting, not campaign.

^yep, i did experiment with the other weapons at least. u eventually get used to the atmosphere, the game can't just rely on its setting to make it good.

I felt the same way but the least I could do was finish the game to see what all the fuss was about. In the end it turned out to be one of the shockers of the year for me, I really enjoyed it. First 3 levels are a bit slow I have to say so... keep at it. wink.gif
