hey guys. so im writing this on a whim because my Verizon DSL has gona completely haywire on me and the tech support isnt helpful.

so basically ill write a little review on my internet provider.
I've been using DSL for probably 3 years maybe 4. And these last two years ive been noticing a lot of problems. For example my ethernet light would start blinking on me and disrupt my connection until i finally call in to tech support and they make me go through a pretty long process to get my ethernet light solid again. Listening to the tech support people and following their walkthrough isnt that hard and i dont really mind, its just that it happens OFTEN. and i get really RAWR because it happens so often. so now recently instead of my ethernet light being unstable its my DSL light. and its been about two weeks now and ive called tech support many times to get it sorted but they have yet to reallly help me. all theyve done is make me rewire stuff over and over and waste my time. and the problem is not my computer but the connection. they are slow to send over actual technicians and after about a week im finally able to get an appointment. in which i must add that theyre ALWAYS late to. sleep.gif. the thing is that my dsl problem was sorted and solved a few days ago and i had my highspeed internet working again but then just a few hours later, there goes the darn light blinking at me again and i havent been able to solve it since. so basically, im really fed up with Verizon. Their internet isnt even that fast actually, and apparently from these past two years its very unstable.

So if u actually bothered to read my long paragraph, im thinking of switching to Roadrunner. And instead of DSL use Cable. but im not a very techy person so im not THAT sure of the difference O_o... i just know DSL uses phone lines and Cable doesnt?

So if you are willing to, share your experience with your internet provider and possibly recommend me a good internet provider for me to switch to! Like is roadrunner reliable? Have u run into a lot of problems like i have? And if you dont mind sharing, how much are you paying for your plan monthly? What is your connection speed?

Right now im using Verizon's 1 year plan for about 30 something dollars a month? im not very sure lol
And my connection speed is 3MB i think, although it doesnt really seem THAT fast, but it is very compared to dialup sleep.gif

I run Roadrunner, which gets me a good max of 600kB/s (note the capital cool.gif. Also free cable TV, hehehe... oh, and all telecoms are evil but Comcast is the evilest.

Ehh Verizon sucks o_o Along with Comcast BIG TIME!

I use AT&T Yahoo! High Speed. It's pretty good :3 We have the pay $14.99-$15.99 month deal. It works wonders! Tehehe.

My connection speed is 100.0 Mbps O_O Is that good enough? I really dunno......

The significance between B and b is that one represents bytes and the other represents bits. There are 8 bits in a byte. So my 600kilobyte/s connection is 2.4megabit/s connection.

And BabyK, 100Mbps is the limit of your ethernet card, not your internet connection because it will be much slower (use an online speed test to check). And if you're talking in that sense, I have gigabit ethernet.

you don't have 100 Mbps, at &t has nothing above 6mbps i think as of right now... you're probably reading your connection speed of your ethernet controller.

i have at&t 6mbps down 768kbps up and it's been all fine and dandy!

Verizon FiOS is the fastest and have great prices for their speeds.

Google "Broadband Reports" and check out their forums. It'll be very helpful for you. They have sections for every ISP.

ehehehehe that made me crack up

the problem with fios is that its not available in a lot of places yet.

i have 10mbit down 1 mbit up.... max dl speed = 1.2mb/s max up speed = 120kb/s
i use roadrunner and i pay around $50-60 a month. the advertised speed was 6-8mbit down =]

good tech support, complain enough and they'll give u a rca modem instead of the scientific atlanta.

the internet goes down maybe once or twice a month for few hours around midnight.
