Hey all! i'm in the need of a laptop but this is my first time and i have NO idea what is good and what is bad. I just know that i need a lot of memory and i mostly use the computer for essay writing/reasearch and downloading. Can u guys tell me a good laptop that you either want/saw or have??? It depends on what your definition of 'good' is. And what kind of price range are you looking at? What size screen do you want? 15 inches? 14? 17? ..

I'd go with any brand really--they're all the same on the lower end really. The only differences will be in their design. However, I would look over some of the warranties really. See what is covered and for how long.
HP has been making really good laptops lately as well as Acer. However, Dell is also a decent (however pricey).

it depends on the purpose of the laptop, if you want to use it for school or at home or working.
and also consider the HD and RAM.
