don't worry. you'll make plenty of friends. Just be really active and gregarious your first year. I have 2 cousins going there. You'll be fine.

Hey UCR. That brings back memories. Went to undergrad a couple of years ago there. Nice school.

It'll be kind of rough at first, but after a while you'll make plenty of friends. Cause after all it's Riverside, it's not like there's really anything to do off campus. So people will be stuck on campus and you'll be forced to socialize with each other. Plus it's a pretty small campus so you'll see lots of the same people and stuff.

Just wondering, but how is the commons area? When I was there, they were just tearing part of it down to start building. Is it finished yet?

i go to ucr and its going to be my 4th year. making friends shouldn't be a problem cuz like jahmez said riverside is in the middle of nowhere and there is nothing to do. so everyone hangs out with everyone basically. unless you like gambling, theres morongos 25 mins away but i recommed staying away from there hahaha. i think people at riverside are friendly but maybe thats from my own personal opinion. making friends should be easy especially if you're staying in the dorms. the newly constructed commons should be opening up this fall and it seems like a good place to hang out and meet people. well hoped that helped and maybe i'll see you around campus.

There is a thread about UCR but its sadly sort of dead. thats probably why you dont see it. I guess not so many soompiers go there?
I do though

I'm a third year now, and its really not all that bad.

Like everyone above me said, don't sweat the making friends thing. If you are dorming this year, you'll make friends no problem.
Everyone at the school is relatively laid back and chill, so no one should be too intimidating or anything like that. And if you still feel
sorta lonely after a while, just remember your soompi friends like me!

Trying to stay away from MORONGO casino. And did you know what UCR stands for ? UC Riversh$t...I don't go there, but I heard that most people transfer to another UCs after one year studying there.

I'm a freshman at UCR too!
I'm was kind of scared of starting off but I took a summer program there and it was pretty fun.
A lot of the people there are really nice and easy to get a long with.

You are dorming?
How cool! I wish I can dorm, but I only live 10 minutes away.
But you'll make friends in no time if you are dorming; from my experiences from the summer program.
And like lilaznhunnie said, you can meet people from soompi that go to UCR!!
