After finishing a series of Harry Potter books, I have been looking for another good book to read. I came across this book because I am a huge fan of Rachel McAdams. I found out that she will star with Eric Bana (hottie!) in a movie called The Time Traveler's Wife, an adaptation of a novel by Audrey Niffenegger. I'm currently on page 136 (out of 540). So far I like it a lot. I can't wait to see the movie next year! Since I don't have a book club in my area, I thought it would be nice to have a discussion online with fellow Soompiers!

It's a story mixed with romance, innocence, mystery and science fiction. I have shed a couple of tears already...
The book reads in Henry and Clare's narration throughout his time traveling experience.

Here is the summary from the book:

"A most untraditional love story, this is the celebrated tale of Henry DeTamble, a dashing, adventuresome librarian who involuntarily travels through time, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. Henry and Clare's passionate affair endures across a sea of time and captures them in an impossibly romantic trap that tests the strength of fate and basks in the bonds of love."

You can also read more reviews from readers at amazon.com or other sites. The book is available in paperback.
I would rate the book as PG-13.

Really? I'll have tissues ready then ... I hope it's a happy ending but don't tell me .... tears.gif
I've had soo many "aww" moments so far ... --
The whole time I'm reading the book I am just picturing the two actors who will play the characters. They're perfectly casted for the roles.

Please share your thoughts if you will be reading the book. It would be great to hear what others have to say about it. I'm trying to finish the book in another 2 weeks ... what's nice about the book too, they have questions prepared at the end of the book for discussions. I'll use them for inspiration when I finish smile.gif .

The book sounds nice!
Thanks for the summary.
Ive been looking for books to read, but I dn't want to just take something off the shelf and hope it's a good one.
I've wasted enough money on books which weren't very ...insightful...

I'll definitely give this one a try...

This book is LOVE! It's so sweet, and so sad... You (jobogae) haven't finished it yet, so I won't spoil it, but the ending is... really something to watch out for.

I can definitely see Rachel McAdams as Clare. I hope the script writer and director do a good job with it.

Haha I had to read this book for summer reading for school. Surprised they chose this book though lol.
But seems like everyone loves. It is a pretty good book, really sad at parts.

I want to see the movie since Rachel McAdams is in it!

I really cannot wait for the movie to come out. Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams are seriously two of the most underrated actors out there, so it would be absolutely amazing for them to be together. biggrin.gif Not to mention both match well together, aesthetically.
