I'm not really understanding the 135i series. They got the 128i and 135i, seems awfully close to the 3-series 328i and 335i. Am i missing something here? Why would they want to saturate and already crowed line up? Their 3-series is their bread and butter, why try to dilute that? I guess the 135i has the M kit on it? So... it's the poor man's M3? (of which we still haven't seen much about its US release) I did notice slight design differences - the back on the 135i snubs up a tad while the 335i is straight across...

No mention of pricing either which will be a deciding factor for a lot of people i'm sure.

*Edit: i found a good preview by Auto Trends that says more about it. After reading this i think this car will do well, probably better than the 3-series because it offers more (a lot of people will like the M-styling and improved interface) and since they're putting the price for the 128i at around $27K and 135i at around $32K i definitely think this will be popular. I'd rather take this than the 3-series myself. The danger i see happening here for BMW is that the 1-series will do better than the 3-series and eventually they'll have to cut one of them.

the 3 has gotten too fat for its own good. the 1 will be offered for those who want bmw handling with less weight. the purer enthusiast's car.

but yeah i agree with you, i think they are competing with themselves. With the same engines, i would take the cheaper, lighter 1 series in a heartbeat

^ Right on! The 1 series would be your weekend warrior whilst the 3 series would be like your daily slapstick around the town.

They are not competing against themselves. I would suggest going to BMW forums and reading up on why they offered the 1-series. And not everyone would take the 1 over the 3.

also the g can already run mid 13s stock and the hks intakes adds an estimated 10 extra hp and the exhausts add like 8 so yeah it should shove off about 1.5 to 2 sec off my times

Yes I mind. If you really want to know, do your own homework.
I was not quoting you to say you were wrong, I was simply stating a fact. BMW knows how to market. Think. Something everyone tends to lack.
