Ughh so last year I wasn't knowledgeable about phones at ALL (lol still not, but i know a little more) and bought a freaking LG C2000! dry.gif I freaking hate this phone. So little features, only shows the last TEN missed calls. Anyway, so I'm gonna get a new phone soon. Since my sister's paying for it, and she's cheap, (lol i still love her tho) the phone can't be too much. So i guess the max would be $150. It's possible to get a phone wayy better than the one i have for around that price right? unsure.gif Anyway, I don't text a lot, so i dont care about that. i just want better features like video recording and so on.

Oh and I prefer either a flip phone, or slider. And my plan is Cingular.

Oh, also, can you guys share your opinions on phone brands? like what you consider to be the best, and worst, etc. because im not having such a great opinion about LG right now. So I'm not sure what brand I want because well I have no clue sweatingbullets.gif lol

i agree with you
i absolutely hate LG phones...
i had one before and it was so crappy =\
and it stuffed up ALOT

hmm if you're going for a cheap phone with OK functions then maybe the SonyEricsson K530i?
it has 2megapixel camera plus a secondary camera..
has a music player
has a card slot for external memory etc etc
here's more info

it's HKD$2080 which converts to roughly $270 USD
you said around $150, but i dunno. there arent many good phones at that price..=\

you can get the Nokia 7370 on ebay for really cheap. Its really nice looking too. The reason its so cheap is because the newer version the 7373 came out. But you said you just want a basic phone so I think this will work.
7370

The Pricing on the 7380 isnt bad either.

honestly... you're not half as special as you think you are.

^For fashion freaks. I don't like the form of that second phone. O.O Also, I don't recommend those phones since you're with Cingular/AT&T. You need GSM 850/1900 on the phone, but those only have GSM 1900. That's just how the carrier works.

Since you didn't mentioned you want the phones unlocked or locked. I'll tell you for both. There are basically no unlocked phones that are that cheap, good, and can use with Cingular. All of the good phones with quad-band are over $200 just about. So, that's basically out of the question.

AT&T carries good phones and you should check them out. Although, that depends if you want to extend the contract or not. The only way you can get these phones that I'm mentioning right now is by extending your contract. You can find out more by asking a AT&T representative.

Sony Ericsson W580
Sony Ericsson W300
Sony Ericsson Z310
Samsung Sync
and lots more.

Well, those are only a few. The prices I'm looking at are online, not in-store so it can vary. Your sister could probably haggle for a lower price. I just recommend that you go to the store and check out the phones that you want, but remember you would have to extend your contract for 2 more years to get them at a cheap price.

To answer your last question. Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones are the best, although the battery life on some Nokias are crap while on the SE phones it's been consistently great on all of their devices. Samsung is pretty good in features, but they've gone overboard with the slimness of phones and now have crappy battery life. I don't like Motorola, but I do admit they got some great phones. Lastly, LG isn't known for their crappy GSM phones. They just suck, but their CDMA phones are completely different; look at the EnV from Verizon, a good phone, and of course they make great phones in Korea along with Samsung.

P.S. If you don't understand some of these terms, look in the FAQ. wink.gif

dreamyxxx- hmm the phone looks ok, but my sister is def not gonna get that lol. thanks for replying though.

dancingbymyself - the phone is really pretty, but it looks kinda thick. eh ebay is too risky for my taste =)...and i would hate the second one as my phone. it looks like it would be a better mp3 player or camera or something. but thanks for replying though.

DKYang - ooh thanks for all that info. yea i guess i dont care if it's locked or unlocked then. and ohh i didnt know nokia and sony ericsson were the best. kinda dumb of me, but i just never really heard about it that much in the media or anything. or at least, i dont think so. but yea, my sister's gonna get a new phone once our contract ends.

Well, if she decides to extend the contract to 2 more years. Then every phone that AT&T has will be up for grabs, since it'll be cheap with contract. If you ever need help deciding which phone to get, after narrowing it down, just post a thread. Make sure you state your needs too if you do post.

As for the best, it's just my opinion, but what I said about the companies are true facts.
