i was just wondering does hair straighteners lose their protective coat if its used for quiet some time. but does the straightener itself ment to have a protective coat? cuz it seemed like when i first used it my hair was perfectly normal no damages done, but sooner or later my hair crinkled and kinda died. and i don't i even use the straightener that much. i have those kinds that say ceramic plates and Teflon coating??

so yeh anyone out there know the answer please help me out, does that i mean i need to get a new straightener??

oho nd sorry if this has already been posted =]

all hair straighteners damage, no matter what kind or whatever.
its recommended to use a... heat protective spray thing.. >.<

but even if its meant to do "less damage", it still does damage sad.gif

try using a cream for your hair for less damage that is for blow dry or hair ironing, they sell them at bath and body works~~it works well and gives that soft hair texture.

the heat from the sun damages your hair...

...and flat irons can be as hot as 385 degrees...

...do the math.

Using a hair serum is great to due to protect your hair from hair straightners. Also use a good ceramic straightner, they are better to use than metal.

^ Yeah
Use hair serum to protect your hair
I dont think that the protective coating thing has much to do about your hair
I think that just over time using your hair straightener is damaging it

It does damage your hair, no doubt about it. As others have said, use heat protective sprays/serum. As well, make sure to ALWAYS use lots of conditioner when washing your hair. Plus, I do a deep-conditioning of my hair about once a week.

yup blowers and all kinds of ironing curlers too..
just anything that's got to do with heat .. and chemicals
if you use straighteners too much.. then .. you're definitely killing your hair.. so try not to use it often.. at least twice a week would do..

Yeah all hair straighteners do damage.
I use mine like 6 out of 7 days of the week and my hair is now dried out and splitting at the ends.
Even though I use a protective spray and whatnot.
So try and minimize the use hehe.
