It's creepy because actually Garfield has been alone all these while. And he's in denial about it, so he imagines Jon and Odie?
Well.. that's how I interpreted it. No idea if the artist was meant to bring it out like that.

I didn't think it was creepy. I think the author just want to bring out a point how Garfield can change from being this uncaring,selfish cat to a caring cat..all after he imagined/dreamed of a world without Jon and Odie.

Really? Weird...It scared me a little only when my brothers tried to explain it to me. And the only part that actually freaked me out was when they said that our lives could be all a dream. (That may not have anything to even do with this comic...I'm not sure) but that's what he said and that's what actually scared me. ^^;;

But I thought people would find it creepy because my brothers are really not easily scared people (way too skeptical so they won't believe in anything) but they said that this comic haunts them. o.o

It's not creepy to me, it depends if you believe in all that "We imagine things to fill the voids in our lives" junk.
Reminds me of the ending of Evangelion .

garfield imagined his future without jon and odie, and that changed him and made him realize he loves them a lot.
your imagination is a powerful thing. i think that's the point of the comic.

its not creepy and its better than the recent garfield comic strips which happen to be ALL ABOUT KILLING SPIDERS (boring!!)

its a "lesson" how imagination can be powerful, and to not take your friends and family for granted.

his work is what the matrix is based largely off of.
and its not scary.
whether this "life" of ours is dream or reality, would you live it any different?
