the first weekend of august, I got my first ticket on my way back from UGA (Athens, GA) to dropping a friend off..
it was pretty late at night so i was speeding to get her home cus I had work the next morning...
it was a 65 but because of construction, 55mph. i was going 83.
although, i thought the construction zone was behind me.. becuase there were no evidences of construction... but whatever.

last saturday (9/22) i was on the highway and got in a minor wreck..
i was turning to the left lane and ran into a black maxima.
my brother's car, a murano (he was moving into his new house that day so he was driving the u-haul and i, his car..) barely, barely got paint chipped off on the front left corner..
the maxima had about 2-3 scratches along the side of the body. no injuries, nada.

my questions are:
the traffic was pretty light the night i got the ticket- yet the popo wrote down that the traffic was heavy..
is this going to penalize me more?
the wreck and ticket occurred in different counties.. any significance? how about the fact that they occurred within two different cars?
approx how much do you think the tickets will be and how much for the damage for the other guy's car?
will i get my license suspended or anything like that??

.i'm 18 in georgia and these were my first ticket & wreck.

I would just look at Georgia state law. I know for certain states that I've been to, have a certain dollar value for every mph you are over the limit. As far as the wreck, I would question the police officer's judgement on what 'heavy traffic' really is. I would call him and ask. Good luck.

83 is really high especially since it was 55mph area so i wouldnt expect anything light. i think the officer putting that there was heavy traffic might add more to your insurance and decrease the value of the car in the carfax.

Hm..poor decisions/judgments results in big consequences. I hope you learn a great lesson from these two incidents. We all make poor judgments and we should all learn from it.

You won't get your license revoked, but since you were driving over the speeding limit and the road was under construction, the fee is going to be higher than just a regular speeding ticket. For every certain amount of speed you're over, you're going to pay more for the ticket. Since the road was under construction, you're suppose to be driving slower than speed limit to ensure the safety of the construction workers. This will penalize you more. You're also going to be going to traffic school and all that which is time consuming.

For the accident, it's going to be on your brother since it is his car and his insurance.

thanks all.
i called up both citation places
and the fine for the ticket is $186
..the changed the date though.. from the 20th of october to the 22nd, which date am i supposed to go to?
and is 186 a high/low fine?
and my mistake. it was 81, not 83mph.. NOT like it'd make a difference or anything.. but yeah.

and i called up the department for the wreck, and they didn't have an option for me to know how much my fine is and stuff. . .
