I started off loving k-pop with my love of Hyori during the era of Finkl. So, i joined bjunkyard.com/forums a LONG time ago- almost a decade ago. The creator of the site always seems to be short of money for the website, asking for donations and such. He's a great guy and very public about the costs of maintaining a website. And it just got me thinking (about 2 minutes ago), how much it costs soompi.com to maintain itself considering that it's MUCH larger than bjunkyard.com. Maybe i should have posted this in tech?

I entertained thoughts of perhaps starting a website for no real reason other than that it befits a "modern" person to do so. I was just wondering what the costs associated with such an endeavor would be like.

i read on 'questions, comments, & suggestions' section a while ago, it's 300 bucks / mo.... if i'm not mistaken.

it's 3 digits, i'm sure about that one.

but yeah its well in the 3 digits
makes me happy that i know i donated.. i just wanna donate more now cause i donated like 3 years ago and that was only a dollar '_____'

I'm sure she appreciates our support so keep the donations (monetary or diapers? haha) coming.
I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try PMing her for some advice?

Erm no, it's expensive for the server and domain costs, which is what the forum essentially needs to be itself. We could just be cheap and use a free Invision board, but that would mean busy server or page errors 24/7. Literally.

And it's gone up from $300...

Maybe a little chart could be posted, keeping track of how much is donated per month? (the total amount needed wouldn't have to be revealed though-- amount donated could be shown in terms of percentage only). It'd be great to see people's donations at work, and maybe it'll spur some people to donate who haven't donated before
