usually if it's a double degree then it's a double major. check to see if your school has such a program. if not you can always do a minor in history along with your major. ask you advisor or check to see what courses are required for a history minor and just apply for the change in your education plan~

are you going to do anything in your career that has something to do with history. if there isn't, then i'd say just go for a minor so you can take some history classes for fun. but if you think you want some nice choices after finishing college, then yeah, double major. ;D you should check how many majors are required with each major and all things else. it's gonna be a lot of workload. o___o;;

and you'll probably have to take summer courses too (i'm going to be doing that).
go for it if it's something you love. ;D

and decide early because the process takes a while when you're applying for a second major. -o-;; i've been waiting forever for a response. the deadline's past and now the college is reviewing everything. *crosses fingers* ;D good luck to you and hope you figure something out. ^^

i'm pretty sure if you enjoy it, then it would totally be worth it getting a second major in history.

i'm a film/humanities double major, and it does take somewhat longer to complete a double major unless you manage to find two with a LOT of overlapping major classes (even though my humanities emphasis is film studies, only a couple of my classes actually overlap). the good thing is you get a wider range of knowledge, which is especially beneficial if one of your majors is more practical/hands-on and the other's more theory-based, as in my case. it also opens up your opportunities for employment (i.e. if not one, there's always a back-up).

another thing is the prestige factor, which i know is the reason some people do a double major. like one major is too specialized and therefore too easy, so they challenge themselves by taking another major.

I'm currently in the department of Business Admin and working towards a 2-3 concentration business degree (International Business in conjunction with Marketing and/or Management Information System) and I'm also planning to do a Math minor.

Which degree are you working towards right now ? I'm assuming you got accepted into the CIS department ?... so the first thing you should do is talk to the head of the History department to see the course requirements for doing a major or minor in History.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be A LOT of work if you do a double major because you have to finish the required courses/credits for each department. That's why I'm only doing a minor in math... and that's already hard enough hahaha. That's why I think it's best to talk to the department head to see what you're getting yourself into, but if you enjoy both subject and think you can handle the workload then by all means go for it ! It'll come useful later on in life... somehow hahaha.

Ah... I get it now hahaha so your CIS (Computer Information System) is equivalent to my MIS (Management Information System) hahaha I thought you wanted to do a Comp Sci major... my bad lOL.

Anyways, from what I know I was invited to do a double major or minor in Math because I was in the top 5-10% of a Calculus course that I took 2 semesters ago, so whether you'll get rejected for a double major or not, I have no idea ^^". Plus I'm pretty sure different Universities have different set or rules and regulations. But I'm pretty sure you have to go through some kind of procedure to be credited for a major or minor.

Like I've said, best thing to do is talk to the head of the department that you're planning to do a double major in. If you know that you're going to do a major in CIS for sure and that you're transfering into that department this fall then tell the History department head that and your situation. He/she will probably go through all the requirements and how many courses/credits you'll need to graduate with a History degree.

For example I talked to the math department head and he told me that I have to take 3 lower division math courses (100-200 level) and 4 upper division math courses (300-400 level) to get credited for doing a math MINOR... I don't even want to think how much work it'll require to do a major in it. I'm already flooded with required courses for my BUS degree -___-"

I hope that helped a little bit ? Hahaha good luck (: and yeah talk to the department head soon to get an idea of what is required of you so you can make your decision faster and start working towards whatever you decide to do ^__^

I`m a Fashion design emphasis major
along with knowledge in graphic design
and minoring in art

benefits for me?
i`ll look more impressive than say someone who only has fashion design as a major,
and i am able to do more than just make clothes,
i can design webpages, create logos... etc
