Not have my mind wonder around???? That's almost impossible!

Just a big will, a big big willingness....and a cup of bitter coffee.

*thanks God you save me from a word called 'study'*

If I have to stay focused while studying I need to have a clean room o_O
A messy room ruins my concentration cause I keep thinking about needing to clean it.
And then I make it comfy with something nice to eat and drink and listen to music.
That's when I get most out of studying x)

My school issues all junior students wit a work planner that has a comic in the back.
The comic describes how to efficiently co-ordinate yourself for school .. And how to manage study.

Basically, you:
- Need a personal area which is off limits when "hard core studying is taking place!" (I'm quoting there .. ==)
- The such area to be free of distractions including music and TV.
- Have to have every packed into folders, co-ordinated into subjects or priority.
- Tackle assignments and assessments two weeks before they're due (ideally).

Also, it encourages you to partake in note taking.
And hence another comic .. ==

set up your goal.

example:
jessica alba likes number, you want to impress her for a one night stand. study hard for your math, and she's all yours

Don't ever study at home. Its the most distracting thing ever. Go study in a library or something.

And since you mentioned that you tend to forget everything you learned last week, take the effort to review your notes within 24 hours. It helps you move all those information from short-term memory to your long-term memory.

Set goals and study time. Make a schedule. Don't try to cram everything in the last minute, that's the worse, and not every time, you'll be lucky to pass your exams without studying... lol smile.gif

Oh, and have a clear mind ^^ like study somewhere you feel comfortable at.

this cracked me up. Yup, like everyone said. Set goals. UNDERSTAND what you're learning.
The key is 'determination'. Everyone can do it if they set their mind to it. Good luck : )

when studying, don't study with distractions around. (example: tv, computer, phone, bed, fridge, etc etc)

make study goals saying that you CAN'T do something until you do this CORRECTLY. (example: no watching korean drama until i can fully understand this -- of course this takes lots of discipline sleep.gif;; i can't follow through with this all the time either ;;)

perhaps study at the library OR in a quiet room at home... WITHOUT FRIENDS.

don't procrastinate 'cause then you're just focused on finishing the damn assigment, not actually understanding it

I can't study without listening to music; but I actually listen to classical/jazz music. I'm a night owl when it comes to studying so i do best when i do an all-nighter. whether this is healthy or not, I dont know since it's the one thing that works for me. but! just stay away from procrastination.

also, I take notes from my notes and make review sheets. i'm the type who needs to write and write in order to retain what I studied.

as for studying Math [altho i'm not really qualified to give advice since it's my weakest subject], it really helps to keep solving problems/equations continuously. i mean, that's really the most useful way to study for it. sigh, these are all easier said than done.

know your preferences! if you can study with music, then study with the music on. i turn on the music when i feel like there's nothing in my head but when there's idea in my head, i stop it and formulate the ideas. smile.gif (that applies for making essays anyway. -.< )

and yes, clean the place because unorganized environment makes you loose focus and instead shift your attention to the dirt rather than your notes.

treat yourself after studying! tell yourself you will watch something to compensate your hard work. tongue.gif I do this all the time and it works wonders! XD <33 but it takes patience though~ but it's worth it. ^^;

also, take notes in class, they're really useful. and if you take notes, try to put your reaction and understanding about a topic. if you can't study with a 'note-taking handwriting' might as well rewrite your notes. smile.gif it's also effective, (i always do it and i think i understood the lesson more)

When I need to stay focus, I turn off my computer. I write a big sign with my goals on it and place it infront of me. I try to make studying fun, so I try to relate my study topic to something entertaining and easy to remember.

I am Agent Wendy Pleakley.

My courses are online and I really get distracted on the computer so sometimes I uninstall programs. Sometimes I get distracted every 5 minutes and end up back on Soompi IRC so I just ban myself until my exams are over.

I always found that studying in a quiet room with a mug of tea always helped me.

Also, if you study at a desk before you sleep, you tend to remember things better. Never study in bed.

best way for me to study is to re-write my notes
LOL while re-writing my notes i read the book
and add additional stuff along with my notes.
I go to barnes and nobles strait after
class to re-write my noted after im done
i go home and at night when every1 is
asleep i lock myself in my room shut off the computer
and force myself to study lol.
