so my 2000 mazda protege is acting all weird..again. when i brake i notice that my brake warning light comes on and when i come to a complete stop it goes away...now i was thinking that the brake fluids are low but i don't know. so any ideas on what else it could be?
and what do you guys think of the 2008 VW Rabbit. cause after i get everything fixed on the protege i plan to sell it and get myself something thats a bit more reliable. its a not a GTI i know but it still packs quite a bit for the price its offered at. So your opinions on this car is greatly appreciated.

Brake light warning is the fluid level sensor, it could be solved as simple as getting the brakes bled (to remove air pockets), or it could just be the sensor. Are you losing fluid? As long as its capped and there is no damage to the brake lines or the caliper piston, you shouldn't lose fluid.
For all I know it could just be a faulty sensor. It not expensive to replace, nor is a brake bleed.
I cannot offer any opinions on VW, because many of the old models have just ruined my trust in them, seeing how irreliable some models can be, especially if any maintanance or problems are neglected.
But in all honesty, I really think that if saving money was the issue, it would be much cheaper now and in the long run for you to drive your protege till it dies, either because it just falls apart or a accident claims it. My total cost for owning my current car, including maintanance/repairs, gas, and the cost of the car, is still cheaper than if I bought a brand new car, but there is no way I would get what I got from my car for what I could afford (new) anyhow.
