I got contacts around last month, and I'm on my second pair.

When I first got them, I wore them like everyday and I kind of stopped wearing it for a while.
I haven't worn them in a week, and one day I put them on and when I took them out, the white part of my eye became really red.

Is this normal?
>_> My friend said it's because I didn't put them on for such a long time.. but I'm not sure if that's true tongue.gif

Could have been just coincidence that the one time you weren't wearing them for a long time, it irritated your eye.
Or, I suppose it could be that there was a gap between times.

As for normal, I couldn't say it's NOT normal. It deffinitely shouldn't happen all the time, but different people have different eye sensitivities. My contacts never bother my eyes, but my friend's eyes are more sensitive and her eyes get red more often than mine ever have.

But you know, it could have been your lens wasn't cleaned properly or something. If I were you, I would wait for the redness to go away, then try the contacts again to see what happens.

maybe your eyes were simply irritated that day?
if it happens again then maybe you should stop wearing them.

Have you cleaned them properly ?
Maybe your eyes are just irritated. Either that

OR

Your eyes may be dry from the contact lenses suffocating your pupil.

I think you should just stop wearing it for awhile.

If it becomes a problem go see your optometrist or something. :/

Clean it better? Use a new pair? :/ I dunno...

Here's a tip for contacts users that could help the dryness, redness and long lasting comfort all day

After rinsing and cleaning your contacts with the solutions
Add a drop of Eye-Drops for Contacts into your contact lenses (do not rinse) and quickly place them in your eyes
This allows your eyes to be moisturize all day long

If your eyes are red/sore after you've taken them out and it continues the next day then it's not normal
Ask your optimistriest (sorry, mispelling i know) about it

well it could be that your eye is allergic to your solution. i wear contacts too and when i first got them i used complete moisture. everything was fine during the first month i guess and then a few days after, i noticed some white parts of my eyes turning red. i thought it was nothing and that it would go away so i kept using the contacts and the solution. 2 more days later my whole white part of my eye got completely red and my mom just freaked out. she thought my eyes got infected or something but it didn't hurt. so i went to see the eye doctor and he told me that my eyes were allergic to the perservitives (sp?) in my solutions. he said the BEST solution to use that doesn't have perservitives (sp?) is Clear Care. after that he just gave me these eyedrop thingy that gets rid of the redness in the eyes. so yea...it could be that your eyes are allergic. btw. clear care isn't like the other solutions like renu. they give you a special case and you HAVE to let your contacts soak in clear care for 6 hours because if you don't and you just put it in your eye, it will sting like HELL. o_o it explains everything on the box.

i might be because your contacts are covering your eyes and "suffocating them" . that means theyre prolly too dry, so maybe try eye drops

Yeah I have the same problem. It got so bad that I've switched back to glasses full time. Wearing contacts for about two years resulted in me having constant dry eyes even when I'm NOT wearing contacts (I haven't worn contacts in a little over a year, and my eyes are still constantly dry)

did you get eyedrops tog o with your contact lense? because if you're a new contact lense wearer, it's usually good to put eyedrops in a few times a day. this is definitely not normal, even for your situation..because i got mine a couple months ago too..^^

anyways, put eyedrops in!!!! it does help, good luck.

It is normal if you don't wear it often.

Back in high school, I wore it everyday. Then I moved onto residence last year for first year University and I hardly wore them.

Now I regret it because for two years, my eye degrees stayed the same when I was wearing contacts. Now it shot up because I was wearing my glasses a lot for the past year.

Contacts makes my eye so sore when I put them on. My eyes turn bloodshot red and I have tears until my eyes sting.

I should start wearing them more in order to be comfortable again.

If the problem persists, the smart thing to do is to go check it out with your eye doctor.
Maybe your eye is just try. Make sure the contact and your eye is lubricated enough. Use eyedrops!

ROFL suffocating ur pupil.....thats wrong=P ur pupil is the aperture in your eye, so it doesnt need nutrients. its the other eye structures [sclera/conjunctiva/iris etc] that do...

possibly that after not wearing ur contacts for ages they could be dirty as stuff could build up in your contact lens solution...OR, if previously u wore contacts without giving ur eyes rest before, they can become super dry...so when u next wear contacts they cant tolerate being dry for as long and will hence redden faster...

try to use oxygen permeable contacts. theyr better=]
