I'm not adopted or korean but I am going to be writing a term paper on this topic.
Apparently the television station filmed a maybe semi-documentary on Christine Henney after offering to fly her to Korea to have a taste of her culture. Christine, Dan's mum has been brought up completely American since she was a baby and knows nothing about Korean culture at all. She did talk about the racism she faced at school (which is pretty bad) and at work.
Apparently when Koreans from outside Korea come back, there is some kind of bias or somesort and the idea about pure-koreans and mix bloods. Pure bloods are treated better and those mixed.
For those adoptees, they don't belong in America, neither do they belong to Korea.
another thing is about Adoption itself. They come back to reconcile with their lost families. Some are accepted, some are rejected.
During the civil war, many korean kids were sent outside Korea for adoption because either their parents perished in the war or they are unwanted babies resulted from war-rape/comfort woman of sorts. If Korea had accepted the idea of Single-mums in the past, maybe the foreign adoption rate won't be so high.
Presently, Korea's been putting in alot of effort to welcome these children back by offering Korean culture classes and offering citizenship too.
Have any of you face this kinda of bias?
What do you think about adoptees outside Korea?
Any reconcilation stories to share?

Another thing related to this issue is the movie Daniel Henney is acting in. "My Father" which is released in Korea today. ^^,
