For those who don't have a show car on display, do you attend these shows on a regular basis? There was a HIN (Hot Import Nights) in my area recently and I wanted to go. The only time I've been to one was in 2000 when the scene was nearing the mainstream, pre-The Fast and the Furious. Seeing throngs of guys crowd around one girl with their video cams raised high in the air left and right reminded me of monkeys quarreling over one banana, to put it bluntly.

And for those who do have a show car... if you didn't have a show car, would you still go?

I hate being a tourist walking around or waiting in lines in general. That's why I don't feel compelled to attend these or other types of non-car related conventions. Guess HIN just doesn't do it for me. Viewing pics of the events online is good enough.

Two weeks ago, we had Import Face Off in Tulsa. I don't have a show car or anything to show, but I went anyway and I loved it.

Not HIN size but pretty big.

That's only a 1/3 of the parking lot.

Sema may be open to the public on one or more of the days, but it's mostly aimed towards wholesale & major companies rather than consumers like HIN is, since Sema is a trade show and everything.

HIN and SEMA cannot be compared. They are two different colors on a spectrum.

Id still go if I didnt have a show car. Its a fun place to get with your friends and get drunk As long as I don't have to pay admission.

I've never attended either HIN or SEMA, but when you have a show car company like 5 AXIS making show cars with their tC's in SEMA, I really see no difference.

i used to watch the shows on a regular basis when i wasn't such a performance junkie. now that i switched to the dark-side, i rarely have any affinity to attend those shows.

I wasn't implying anything about porn. If you want to oogle girls, there are better ways than car shows. Just like when you go window shopping "You can look but you cannot touch".
