To be honest, if I were you I would stay far away from Pro Activ. Its primary active ingredient is benzoyl peroxide, and while benzoyl peroxide is good at keeping away pimples, the human body tends to build up tolerances to benzoyl peroxide, which means Pro Activ could just stop working for your skin. From what I hear, it's also really drying and irritating, and some people who stopped using it got acne even worse than before.

Benzoyl peroxide doesn't work for me at all - when I've used BP creams, I've gotten really bad chemical burns, no matter how little I put. I have normal to dry skin, and my pimples went away completely once I stopped using acne products and started using gentle cleansers and light moisturizers.

^^ Sounds like maybe you're allergic to BP? Cause if BP is giving you severe chemical burns...=o. Everyone reacts differently with BP, keep that in mind. Test it on a small part of your face and see if you get severe redness and swelling if you do, you're allergic to it and should stop immediately. And I mean SEVERE because new users and sometimes even long time users of BP get redness/dryness from BP, it's a common side effect.

Proactiv, like joonieballoonie said although it contains BP which is usually used in most acne creams/gels, the other components(more specifically the cleanser) can lead to more acne. The cleanser has small beads in it that also act to exfoliate and cleanse the skin at the same time, however the beads are really rough. Roughness leads to irritation, irritation leads to acne, if you had no choice but to use Proactiv, I would only use the BP/Moisturizer, stay away from the cleanser and find something more gentle.

it works well but you have to keep on using it. like the above post, you have to keep buying it cause you can't really stop. my cousin has bad acne and he's been using it 5 years probably and he said he can't stop using it or else he'll get break outs and something with his skin going weird. i don't recommend using it if you have dry skin. but good luck finding other acne treatments.

proactive is ok, depends on how u use it and how much. cus wat it does it takes all the oil away and your skin needs oil, so your body produces oil to keep the skin moist. but wen ur body produces more oil i the future, it produces too much due to the loss from before. then it comes out unevenly and lumpy(pimples)

Not for me because my skin doesn't react well to benzoyl peroxide. It's probably the worst product I've used on my face since I never use anything with benzoyl peroxide anymore.

I have and use Pro Activ and I like it a lot. People say it's too drying but that's something you need to figure for yourself. I recently ran out of it and have to go back to my old system, using what claims to be a gentle face wash (not a scrub like the cleanser w/Pro Activ) and my skin is soo horribly dry. I heard also you get used to it and your skin will adapt. The truth to this,I don't know. The toner and lotions help a lot especially if your skin is feeling dry when 1st starting use.

I've used it, and it wasn't so bad ~
sometimes I do get dried skin which I hate
they tell you to use it daily and if you don't your face
does breakout at times dry.gif
my parents tell me to stay away from acne creams and stuff
its better off just leaving it unless you have serve acne issues : P

there are plenty of better solutions to acne then proactive. the best bet is to go to a dermatologist. i work for one and see many acne patients everyday. everyone's skin is different so something that works for one person is not gonna work for another.

I used proactive a long time ago and it worked for me... but I only used it for a very short period of time.

I tend to get dry skin too because of benzoyl peroxide... all the products I have don't have that... my skin really doesn't like it!. Stay away! HISSS.

Getting a good moisturizer could solve your problems?

DONT USE IT !
I heard it has steriods??

My personal experience.
The first time, it was sososo strong
that my face turned bright red and puffy for a really long time ... (the next day)
Then, my face became very dry.
And, If I didn't use it consistently,
every single day, I would get
MASSIVE breakouts !

Then, I stopped using it,
I have a clear-er face.

You do the math smile.gif

I actually love the stuff, but that's just me. I have had really bad acne since middle school and it has been the only thing that works.
