I'm quite a noob when it comes to CDMA phones and I don't really understand the concept. and so to my main question.

is there such thing as a Sony Ericsson CDMA phone?

cause i know they have like GSM and all that jazz.
but my family might switch to verizon soon and i'm really biased towards other phones.

and is there a specific brand of CDMA phones? or is the only choice when with verizon (or any carrier that uses CDMA) to choose their phones?
where can one buy a CDMA phone (is that even possible?)

yeah i kinda feel like an idiot but, yeahhh..

anyone care to explain?

and yes i am re-using my old thread. why waste a thread when i could just recycle my old one? (:

AT&T use both GSM 850 and 1900, uses 850 more. So, you would need to find yourself a quad band phone. The first one you listed won't work well, the second one is available in GSM, but it still won't work well because it's a tri-band. There are few quad-band phones in your budget, but I doubt they'll be good enough to support your needs; most likely they'll be on ebay in used condition.

any suggestions for phones then?

1) Flip, i'd like it to be ALL WHITE. (similar to the ones i have pictures of?)
2) any brand
3) nothing is really VITALLY important.
4) AT&T (previously Cingular)
5) unlocked
6) hopefully under $300? (but i see most of the quadband phones are about +$400 @____________@)

please correct me if im wrong. i tried to understand the whole GSM 850/1900 thing..
so AT&T uses BOTH 850 and 1900? and 1900 is mainly used for roaming, and doesnt have a good connection in some buildings and when you get out into the rural places. 850 is the main for cell phones. in the city and in buildings.

@ DKYang -- so when you say it wouldnt work well, means that it would have bad connection?

Basically, you'd have times where you have 0 bars when you would have 3 bars because your phone doesn't support the bandwidth. So if you want to use AT&T/Cingular you'd have to get a quadband phone... or switch to T-Mobile rolleyes.gif

I looked through some online stores and none of them have white flip phones. The only one's I saw were either Samsung or Softbank phones. They are all tri-band though and fit your budget. I don't think there are any white quad-band flip phones, or it's just rare/expensive.

Sorry, couldn't find your white flip phone. If you were with T-mobile, then you have couple to choose from including the ones you mentioned.

I'd pick SAMSUNG W2700.
Are you sure it's SAMSUNG W2700? It looks like a Softbank 707SC/707SCII.

^ i think the softbank 707SC was made by samsung so they're the same phone
btw the softbanks are worth around 300-500 ...unless the price dropped

You can only choose the phones that verizon provide or that can be used on the verizon network which is mostly from verizon so you really don't have that much of a choice =/
