are some phones water resistant?

because i saw a drama whereby someone's sort of drowned in the sea but when he got out of the water and dried his phone and battery,
his phone worked normally.
i thought it's supposed to be spoilt? o_o

[btw, if it helps - it's lee junki's show, Time between dog and wolf.]

there are some water resistant phones but they're a bit rare.

sometimes phones can work about being submerged, but again its a bit rare.

and you did watch a drama.

Japan has couple of those phones. There is one here in America that I know off the top of my head, I believe Verizon has it, not positive on that.

My friend told me that if you dropped your phone in water, just take it apart and let it airdry and it should be fine... but if you try to turn it on when it is wet, it kills the phone.

Not sure how true this is...

My sister got her phone wet in the rain and it stopped working but when it dried it was fine.

^iunno but that sort of makes sense. cause the water shorts the circuits and whatnot when there is current flowing, so i guess if its turned off before entering the water, and then dried while off i guess there wouldnt be any current running through it.

airdrying is not really going to save the phone becauuse metal =hot!! .. u dont want to burn ur hands.. plus it will melt the plastic inside = battery!

its best to just let it dry.. theirs this guy i know who accidently put his usb stick in the washine machine with his clothes.. n he let it dry.. n it works! .. so there is a possibility of it drying.. but it has to like dry naturally.. i mean of cos u can wipe it with a cloth ..

It's true for all electronics, but it doesn't work all the time. Sometimes, it will just not work. I don't what you mean by air drying, but just leaving it in your room for couple of days is enough; that's if it's at room temperature and not freezing. tongue.gif

The thing on the drama will work for all phones as long as the phone was turned off when you dropped it and you don't try to to turn it on until everything inside the phone is completely dry. It will work on pretty much any electronics as well I think.

If you dropped the phone in SALT WATER it wouldn't matter if your phone was on or off. It'd be toasted anyways >.>
But as for just plain water... if you're lucky and get the phone out fast, it worked (once) for me... haha
I stopped believing.

You do know that dramas exaggerate.
HAH!
But yeah, in reality, there are such phones.

F701i looks cute.
Too bad it's only available in Japan. You should just let your phone dry when soaked in water rather than to turn it off immediately. Yea, it works for most electronics but not all the time.

It really all depends on your luck.

I've washed my phone in the washing machine before. I didn't touch it for a few months, and then one day I charged it and it worked. A few months later, it was dead. Never turn on nor would it charge.
