Apparently my product key is fake. If that's the case, how can I get the real version of Windows XP? Simply buy the CD and reformat it? Would that solve the problem or would I have to do something else?

Yes that would work, but you will loose all your data if you were to take that approach.

If you got Windows XP from the dealer that you got your computer from, you can go back for one with your receipt.
You can change your Windows XP Serial Number in your Registry.

Thanks everybody.
I ended up just bringing it to the shop and they reformatting it for me so now I have the real version. I can finally use programs properly and I had no idea there was IE 7 until now, LOL!
