So... I tried to defragment my C drive but a message popped up saying that I have to run Chkdsk /f.
And I tried to run Chkdsk /f and they said something that it can't be run because the volume is in use by another process and if I want to schedule it next time I restart my computer. So I put Y and restarted my computer but I still can't defragment my computer.
Now I don't know what to do. So help? Anyone?

schedule a scandisk before doing defrag.
rightclick your c drive and properties then tools tab and check both boxes, it will ask you to restart to do the scan because files are in use.

On bootup, some text should come up saying, "Press Any Key" to SKIP CHKDSK. Did that not happen?

^ No didn't happened.
tommy96814: I tried safe mode but it hangs sometimes and sometimes it doesn't work. Maybe I'm doing it wrongly?

keep hitting f8 when the black and white menu comes up select safe mode then once on the desktop you just defrag from there.

^I tried safe mode again but I guess my laptop died on me now. (I'm using a different computer now)
My laptop keeps restarting itself.
