hey techies...
i know once the imei is blacklisted..the fone is basically useless (correct me if im wrong)
my dad is a taxi driver and some dude left his
NOKIA E61i
in the cab and kinda just shoved the fone to me...
its an OPTUS (i live in australia) service provider..and usin my own optus simcard it asks for a 'locked' code...
i just checked the imei number on some internet site and it just said its not blocked.
therefore....
1. should i take it to some asian shop and crack it
2. not bother
???
is it realli realli impossible to unlock a fone that is reported as stolen?

The only way to unlock a phone provided by the carrier is asking the carrier for the unlock code. You can try to get someone to hack it, but I wouldn't bother doing that.
The phone is useless if the previous owner called in to blacklist it. Once it's blacklisted, you can still use it but once the carrier finds out, you're in trouble. Also, you can't search the IMEI # online to find if it's blacklisted unless someone posted it. Only the carrier and whoever has the phone would have access to the number.
These days, you can't use a phone that was provided from a carrier if it's been reported lost or stolen. I would just call it in or play around with the insides if I were you.
