Hello, first time here..

Everytime I open internet explorer, the website "http://aconfidenceonline.com/" comes up as the home page.
It won't let me change my homepage either. I tried going to tools, than internet options, and changing my homepage but that won't work (which has always worked before...). If I change it and than open internet explorer again, "http://aconfidenceonline.com/" still comes up everytime!

There are also extra icons on my start menu (you know, the far right side where the time is displayed, etc.) that keep telling me to go download antivirus programs that I have never seen before. I've tried to delete these icons too, but I can't find a way to delete them.

All this is for like..antivirus/spyware programs and stuff, which I have not downloaded! My frend thinks it's a virus or something..but I hope not..
I've tried everything I can think of and now I don't know what to do! Help is much appreciated. ^^;

Yes it is a virus.
Try using Spybot S&D and AdAware to remove those pesky spywares.
Those are both free by the way.

And use AVG Anti virus to remove those annoying virusses
Also free.

As for the extra icons that keep telling you to download antivirus programs, if it looks like this it is normal.

ah! thank you very much! I'll go do that now..

hmm..as for the icons, there is one like the one you pointed out and another that switches back and forth between that icon and a question mark that has never been there before...It keeps showing these security alerts that there are viruses/spyware/trojans etc. damaging my computer every 10 minutes or so.. :S

edit//ok, spybot s&d got rid of the extra icons, but my home page is still the same..=__=
so going to try AVG anti virus now, thanks again!
